    Would Trans-Siberian Orchestra count?

In regard to playing an instrument growing up, I used to play the violin. I've also played a tiny bit of the recorder and ocarina & would like to get back into playing at some point as well as learn the guitar.

    Garfunkle the Ryu
Thank you honeycomb for the wonderful Garf!

CLAIR DE LUNE. By Paul Verlaine
Your soul is as a moonlit landscape fair,
Peopled with maskers delicate and dim,
That play on lutes and dance and have an air
Of being sad in their fantastic trim.

The while they celebrate in minor strain
    Triumphant love, effective enterprise,
They have an air of knowing all is vain,—
And through the quiet moonlight their songs rise,

The melancholy moonlight, sweet and lone,
That makes to dream the birds upon the tree,
And in their polished basins of white stone
The fountains tall to sob with ecstasy.

Honestly a perfect fit for the end of the world even in the poem that inspired it. I love it.
Oh my word, I never knew that!
That poem is so beautiful as well! I know this is a weird way to listen to the song, but if I ever need a good cry... I tend to put that song on and just listen and drift off.

The song really does fit for when we all take our final gaze on each other and on the world

Not weird at all I have tons of music that I listen to specifically to cry. Very normal and healthy imo. Music is powerful stuff.

Thank you @Orbit for the Jackalope Ryu

Love that his part of this Requiem was originally commissioned for a funeral mass by the Church, then he wrote the rest in memory of another friend who had died.
God I wish I had a friend who would write some crazy apocalyptic shit like this while thinking of me after I permanently 404 from the Earth. But read the room Verdi lol

This is one of my favorite pieces of all time. It follows a running river. Truly phenomenal musicality.
