    Share your favorite classical music!

This thread is for sharing your favorite classical music.

It can be symphony orchestra, opera, solos, any musical ensemble, or well known classical tunes like the Nutcracker, Carmen, the Can Can, Ode to Joy.

Did you play a musical instrument like piano or violin while growing up? Or maybe you sang. If you have favorite pieces you played/sang at one point in your life, share those too.

Some of my favorite classical music:

Symphony No 3 in C minor by Saint-Sans

Aerial Fantasy - Air Force Band

    Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 - Piano

Suite de trois morceaux - Flute and Piano

The fact it was the intro to the Quidditch World Cup game probably makes me biased haha but this is my absolute favorite. I love how energetic it is!

When I think classical, I think a lot of people think of this.. I mean, how can you not? I'm sure I have others, but my brain is dead.

Ooh this thread is awesome! I personally am not familiar with a wide array of classical songs, but I absolutely LOVE the ones I'm familiar with.

I personally really like this one, I would listen to it often while writing when I was younger!
Amazing userbar by the talented (you need an account to see links)

I apologize for the video quality, but the sound comes through crystal clear.

I love orchestra, I was a choir person growing up. 6+ years in the program, but never could really ply an instrument. I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve been trying to play with the wrong dominant hand for music. I’m a lefty apparently.
I highly enjoy these fellows also.

Some well known, but still favorites of mine:

(I grew up listening to Vivaldi because of my dad; le quattro stagioni was his favorite and I kinda absorbed that from him I think )

Great choices everyone! I love classical music and it makes my heart so full to be sharing and connecting on it. Some of these are ones I am listening to for the first time and I will have to add them to my classical music playlists. :

@(you need an account to see links) OMG! I played the flute in school band too! Then I went on to play flute/piccolo in my college's symphony orchestra. Flute used to be my life, I took private lessons for 8 years and at one point I practiced 2 hours a day. My high school band played Blue Shades and Simple Gifts by Frank Ticheli. I've heard of Angels in the Architecture but haven't played it. We also played a piece called the Symphonic Gershwin, which is a mashup of pieces by Gershwin and has Rhapsody in Blue. I think some videos of my high school band when I was in it are still on youtube and I might have to find them and send them to you.

@(you need an account to see links) I have always loved collaborating with the choir for things when I was in band/orchestra. I was terrible at the first instrument I played (piano) even though I have now spent most of my life playing in music ensembles. It's crazy how you can be good at one instrument but not another. I knew someone who was not good at trumpet but was talented at tuba. Also I love Phantom of the Opera! Everything from that musical is golden.

@(you need an account to see links) Fun fact: All of Beethoven's well known dramatic and boisterous symphonies were odd numbered (like the one you posted, symphony 5). And all of his well known gentle and peaceful symphonies were even numbered. I just texted my friend who studied music in college to confirm if this is actually true, and will update when she responds. Edit: confirmed!
