Unconverted pets that are born after conversion?

I've noticed that there are quite a few UCs (including one I own) that have birthdays after conversion (e.g. born in Y10 or late Y9). What gives? How are these pets unconverted? Does anyone know?

I'm sure someone more in the know than me will be able to expand on this, but there have been stories of TNT staff abusing their powers.

I've also wondered (and I need to caveat this by saying it's pure speculation from me and I have no evidence), since the news broke last year of Neopets database details being somewhat easily accessible for those who know what they're doing, if maybe some had found the exploit already and used it to alter the database for their benefit without making it known to TNT.

Essentially, for a pet to be UC it has to be marked as such in the site database and although it's not supposed to apply to any new pets... if someone has access to that database then they can more or less do what they want.

That's certainly an interesting theory! One thing I have noticed, is these seem to be more likely to be species/colour combinations that were released close to conversion. Less so colours that existed for a long time...

TNT abusing their powers is definitely possible.

If you dig deep enough, you'll find that people have sold services to "unconvert" your pet here in our early years.

I thought it had to do with people creating the pet but then not following through with completing the creation (when it says not born yet when you look a pet up). Shows how much I know haha

We did have a lot of issues where staff would make alternate gallery accounts and give themselves all the items in the game

Of course, that's items not UC pets, but it's easy to imagine that if staff were doing that with items then they may do it with UC pets too.

Interesting, I never knew how deep TNT's corruption went. Makes you wonder if anyone bought their stock directly off TNT.

I've def heard theories of TNT corruption... and the fact that its been proven they can make pets unconverted (not just reverting, remember Uncle_boo?) so I would say it could be true.

For close to the right age UCs, I always assume its because of the "Not Yet Born" thing, where people could almost finish making a pet and they would exist and could be interacted with but would have "not yet born" as their age until they would go in and officially finish create. I feel like I remember people doing this so the pet would be "born" painted etc, I think it was kinda popular for a while. When the pet creation system changed all these pets were probably automatically "born", but then again, I don't know if that would be a huge number of pets in general.

I know its beating a dead horse lmao, but TNT should just have something that makes your pet UC. People who love NC are already annoyed half their shit isn't working already, might as well introduce the unconverter

Well, I myself had a pet stolen (I was active and actually logged in at the time) and pounded/converted. A staff member put it back into its UC state and on my account within the hour which was an absolute miracle in my eyes but obviously do-able. I've never believed their "its too hard" sentiment much. Sure, go on "improving the site" in ways your users never asked for. But anyway, that's a different story

There are definitely some people who can/had access to admin tools somehow.

Back during one of the purges, I think the 2010-2011 one, someone stripped a few accounts of common RW/RN pets without logging into them, and turned them all into high tier UC PRDKs. They came onto the PC saying their friend quit and gave them the pets, but of course people were stalking those names before and knew what was up.

I also knew of a UC Plushie Wocky that was converted and pounded when the owner quit, and now it's a UC Darigan Kacheek? It's weird.

And yeah TNT can unconvert pets in cases like where your account was hacked.
