Are any of you pretty much done with neo because of this new site layout?

I don't think I am understanding the difference between their mobile/beta site efforts and their flash to html5 conversion efforts...

Are these two things one and the same? I.e. are the screenshots in first post aka the new "beta" version of Neopets eventually going to be the only thing we have available on desktop as well or is the "beta" strictly for when you're accessing it via mobile?

Because I fucking hate the beta design (it screams juvenile to the nth degree) for the overall layout purposes. I don't mind that the world links are ... just links for now, the interactive flash map conversion coming later or whatever, but the "stripped down" site layout that you get when you go into the beta version disgusts me.

No, this isn't enough for me to quit over it though. I've invested too much into my pet/accounts at this point and have made some really nice friends (). I think my baseline is that as long as petpages aren't done away with and all pets aren't auto-converted, I will stay on this wretched site until the bitter end lmao...

They are rolled into one another. The "new layout" is part of the mobile-friendly redesign. Since they had to rework the site in order to remove flash before 2021, they decided to go full steam ahead and drag the site into the 21st century with a mobile-friendly redesign while they converted existing activities and backend framework into HTML5.

Eventually, it will be the only way to access the site. They are planning to keep petpages (though most personalized code will break until you fix it) and no mention of auto-converting pets has ever been made.

meh the layout doesn't have to be amazing, between tnt and the toxic ass community onsite, clraik and caring for my pets is all that even keeps me checking in.

I think the only thing that could cause me to quit would be if they converted UCs. My attachment to my pets and nostalgia is the only thing keeping me there.

I could put up with the layout if I really wanted to, however the new boards are horrible on the computer so I'll be spending way less time and money onsite.
If they leave the boards like that and make every map like the new mystery island then I will be quitting for sure. If TNT was better in general maybe I'd stay. But it's not worth my time if the site is ugly AND the staff is bad.

I won't quit due to the new layout. It doesn't really bother me that much tbh. I just hope they can keep most of the content during the transition and hopefully repair some of the broken site features as well.

On the one hand: yes, the new layout absolutely sucks ass.

On the other hand, playing devil's advocate as someone who has a web design diploma: it's not unusual when building any website to start with the most basic features and build it up from there. When designing for mobile, developers also have to be mindful of the amount and sizes of images on the pages so they don't eat too much data on the visitors' ends.

On the third, mutant hand: this is TnT we're dealing with, they'll likely start with this bare-bones framework and keep it that way rather than actually code in the necessary bells and whistles to make the site truly inviting.

I'm not about to quit over it because imo the classic layout has just as many annoying faults, though I definitely prefer classic to whatever tf they're trying to do here.
