There is a lot more that Neopets suffers from that they could be diverting their attention to other than this.

And they're not only "fixing" this loophole, they're also increasing prices to squeeze more out of people. Literally no one wins with this closure.

IMO, they should have taken a step back, asked "why are so many people buying from 3rd party sellers? What could we be doing to make it more convenient/affordable/reliable for users to buy directly from us instead?"

Firstly, people are buying 3rd party because it's too friggin' expensive to buy directly from them. So... find a happy medium. Drop your prices a little. Do an actual evaluation of what is a reasonable price that consumers will be willing to spend without having to resort to 3rd party sellers in the first place. And then make it fair across the board for all countries, all consumers.

Secondly, people buy 3rd party because they actually get gift boxes from redeeming cards. So... start awarding more gift boxes to people for purchasing on-site.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, buying on-site is ridiculously unreliable. There are so many glitches that prevent people from being awarded their NC when they purchase on-site, and then they file a ticket, and *if* the ticket is even resolved in a timely manner, it's often too late for them to use the NC on the item(s) they wanted in the first place (item retired, event already started/ended, etc.). Fix your redemption system. Start practicing actual customer service.

Their actions (or inactions) are what DROVE people to start resorting to third party sellers in the first place. So yeah... they're closing a loophole, but a loophole that they created in the first place... and they did it in a really shitty way that poses absolutely zero benefit to users and, once again, fails to take into consideration the motivations or thoughts of their user base.
