but yeah i agree that it 1) looks awful on some species 2) has too much detail for neopets.
i enjoy how it looks in theory, but it doesn't look right. i'm sure some NCCers will be able to make it work beautifully, though.

You're absolutely right that it's a beautiful item that doesn't pan out in practice. The attention to detail on this one is so loving that it looks terrible on a cell-shaded pet. New #1 worst offender for style clash.
I think it looks the best on a royal girl draik, just because the color palette is so similar it kind of drowns out the detail. Your eyes just kinda glaze over as you go "ah yes, purple."

Meanwhile, as usual, we're all just supposed to accept that she has a hole in the back of her dress the size of her entire ass.

I hate when these NC items are clearly not meant for pets colored the way Neopets are colored.

To put it the way an art dummy like me perceives it -- This is 3D artwork applied to 2D pets.

It doesn't work.

No matter how pretty it is, it does not work with the art style of the pets it's being applied to.

It's infuriating this is what they give users to spend money on, and users keep opening their wallets.

even though i agree with the dress being too well detailed for Neopets colors, I don�t think it looks that bad on the ones you�ve shown. it looks god awful on the Poogle though lol the stripes on the chest really stand out there

like you have this total cartoon drawn pet but the dress looks like it have more..real elements like that see-through tu-tu or whatever it is. Real clothes on a drawing is kinda awk

I won't go into the UX of Neopets as a whole, but NC makes me THE ANGRIEST, because it costs real money and TNT expects people to shell out for poorly designed items that don't fit any species properly, and don't have a look that matches... anything else? How does one even make this work in a custom? It's so busy that there's basically nothing that really complements it well. I am sad that a designer spent a lot of time and care making this, and then there was z e r o attempts to actually make this item work on Neopets and in Neopets.

I do like the dress alot, but I do agree with alot of ya'lls take on it. It definitely doesn't seem like a neopets "style". Maybe something one of the faeries would wear.

And @(you need an account to see links) thanks for showing the 2nd offender.. I never realized how "realistic" this dress looks when it's on a pet. It seems so out of place. Tho I do like it on the lenny for some reason. Maybe because it shows off all the pretty ruffles. But the asthetic of it just doesn't seem neopets style.
