    Lightbulb Leonid Meteors Coming!

    This will be one of your best opportunities to see metors, and definitely one of the last this year in this hemisphere. Maybe the last?

    The Leonids are one of the most intense meteor storms we get, and this year will be really great for viewing because the moon will be only 5% illuminated.

    The peak for the shower is overnight the 16th-17th.

    These will be easier to see for those in the Northern hemisphere, but skywatchers in the Southern hemisphere can expect to see falling stars too!

    Please be safe if you travel to find a lower light area than home -- don't go too far, take a family member with you (or mask up and take a friend) -- and of course, get some awesome pictures.

    I used to make my parents take me to a field a little ways out of town where the light pollution was low enough that we could see them. It's been a long time since those days.
