Did you get it / are you going to get it / your thoughts?
I'm going to avoid the Early Access version after watching a few reviews, it looks a little rough around the edges (some cutscenes or other assets missing, music missing, twitchy animations, bugs and glitches galore) and I really want the full immersive experience without [Allan please add detail].
Howeverr, I'm still excited about what I saw in the gameplay videos I watched. Our last visits to the Forgotten Realms were via Bioware but the developer for Baldur's Gate 3 is Larian Studios. I loved the Divinity series so when I learned that Larian was taking on this project I was like hell yes??
But at the same time, from the clips I watched, BG3 almost looks like "Divinity except reskinned as a Forgotten Realms campaign" rather than "definitely a Baldur's Gate game with some Larian-esque tweaks." but I will reserve judgement until I play (and also, that might not be a bad thing, because, as previously noted, I love the Divinity series)
Also some redditor made a dwarf shrek as a character and I am definitely doing this

AHHHHHH! I love Divinity so I am not entirely distraught that it is a bit Divinity-esque, but I had kind of hoped that it would be more grungy and spooky-feeling considering the first trailer. That said, Original Sin 2 did have some very disturbing moments, so there's hope?
I only play these games on console so I can co-op so I am like a year away from playing this anyways unfortunately, but I hotly anticipate hearing reviews from people who choose to play it here!

I'm a big divinity fan and I definitely see the glaring similarities in the gameplay and the UI, I never played the other Baldur's games though so I don't really have a reference for how it "should" look/feel but I'm excited for full release! I decided to buy the early access and got to a point where I had all of the companions/followers, and then I ran into a bug that dropped my game to about 1 frame every 20 seconds which made me restart a few times and I realised I'd prefer to experience the game in full release when it's polished and the animations/cutscenes/etc are smoother
The character customisation is amazing so far though (I probably spent 30+ mins making mine) and they haven't even added all of the options yet. Knowing nothing about the spells or abilities left me a bit clueless and I think I ended up with an awful setup for my party but it was fun nonetheless
((also, the opening cinematic is amazing and I've gone back to watch it 3 times already))

did you see in one of the hotfix updates that the studio ran the (you need an account to see links) and came up with the single most bland dude
quoth Larian:
all to say that my Shrek speedrun is definitely happeningWhat the hell guys. We gave you demon eyes, horns, and even tails. We are sorely disappointed. Go crazy. We worked hard on this!
Mine is still downloading, but I'll be sure to post some reviews here when I start playing.
I play a lot of 5E, and have played the older BG games as well as the NWN games.
