In your opinion, are guilds worth joining?

So in (you need an account to see links) I've talked about how unique the guild search feature is, which utilizes the latest 2001 search technology and has seemingly never been updated, ever:

(you need an account to see links)

Despite this I still lowkey want to join a guild but I'm curious what the general consensus is on guilds these days. Are any guilds actually worth joining? (Obv don't want anyone to accidentally out themselves so be vague if you please) Is your guild actually active? Does Discord make guilds obsolete? Do I even need a guild if I have the wonderful Clraik community? What are your thoughts?

I like the idea of a guild but that could be nostalgia clouding my perception. Also, if you wanted to DM me any guild suggestions, I wouldn't say no

I'm not a 'people person' to begin with; I was highly ranked in a well known guild years ago, but once I had what I needed (i.e., avatar lends) it just seemed like a waste of my time. So, I guess for social people they could be ok? I'd prefer here any day.

I'm really not a social person either, I don't post about Neo on social media and I only lurk the discords. I think I like the idea of a guild so I could check off my daily dose of Neopets social interaction without having to expose myself to the PC. (And to a lesser extent, I'm a bit jealous of people who have on-site friends, lol)

Personally, guilds have served one of two purposes: hobnobbing with richer and more renowned players, or spying on the hive's activities to get a leg up. Socializing on Neopets isn't my thing, so the only use I have for a guild is taking a peek at who they're fighting for in the upcoming Obelisk skirmish. That alone will cost you an obligatory "hello" in their message board every couple of months so that they don't toss you out of the guild for failing to participate, but it's a small price to pay for war boons.

I think they're especially helpful if you're new to neo because so many of them are built for the purpose of helping get painted pets, avvies etc. plus it's an easy way to make friends if you're so inclined. I've always enjoyed being in a guild even as a veteran player.

personally i'm on a guild but it is a very relaxed guild and i rarely visit the chat board. back in the day i used to avoid joining a guild because i prefer to talk about neopets on places that tnt doesn't control like here or reddit. i think guilds aren't as prestigious as they used to be and they don't serve the same cause anymore as they used to. they definetely need a revamp if tnt still wants to incorporate them into the new site.

I'm not in a guild anymore, and am not intending to be for a while because I'm in incognito mode as I integrate bought pets into my accounts and don't want people looking at my profile. But I might risk all that if I happened to find some old school, over the top dramatic and still active lupe roleplay guild. Take me back to 2003, guys

The social scene on neo hasn't been my thing for a while, but I was part of a small art guild back in high school and it was fun. We had BC and AG take over weeks where we'd see how many of us could get in. There were the occasional prompts that I kinda wish I participated with more, but I was too shy and they had obligatory critiques of the entries and there's wasn't a way to opt out of that :')

I kinda wish there was a raffle/exchange type guild where we just get paired with random people and draw stuff without pressure but. Shy.

Depends on you I guess. I'm not very social at all. I've been in a few different guilds. Even made a few friends. I really love the ones with more of an account improvement aspect. But problem for me is time zone as well. I'm never on when everyone else is so boards are usually dead.

I'd rather come here and lurk.
I never felt like a Loser when I was with any of you.
