What is it?
(you need an account to see links) is a classic neopets daily where your active pet approaches the shrine with the hopes of being blessed with neopoints, items or stats. The shrine was unveiled as part of a past plot line ((you need an account to see links)) where the crown of the late King Coltzan III was stolen by Malkus Vile and returned by the neopets player base two days later.

How to Play
Simply visit the shrine and click the button that says "Approach the Shrine"! You can visit every 12-13 hours, and it resets at midnight NST.

How to Influence the Outcome
Until recently the Shrine was thought of mostly random for the result, but thanks to a user on Reddit with page code (verified by the one and only neo_truths), we've found that there are a couple of things you can do to improve your potential prizes.

Taking a look at the code, the outcome is determined through a variety of steps:

1. Random prize number value between 1 and 7
   
   
2. 1 in 6 odds of adding a random number between 1 and 12
   
   
3. 1 in 6 odds of adding a random number between 1 and 12
   
   
4. 1 in 6 odds of adding a random number between 1 and 12
   
   
   So we're 4 steps in and all random so far - and yes you're reading it right, steps 2-4 are all the same and done independently. That means that it isn't escalating odds, it's a new 1 in 6 roll each time.
   
   
5. On the 15th day of the month, 1 in 5 odds of adding a random number between 1 and 12
   
   
   Here's the start of where we have some impact on the outcome. The odds of getting a good prize is potentially much better on the 15th day of the month!
   
   
6. Check the hour and add a number to the prize value (value table below)
   
   
   This is where things start to get more interesting, as the hour of the day you visit adds a different number to the prize. The 00:XX:XX NST hour has the best prize addition (+6), then 01, 02, 22 (10pm), and 23 (11pm) at +5 each. The worst times to visit the Shrine are 11, 12, and 13 (1pm), not adding anything to the prize value.
   
   
7. Check the active pet's intelligence and add a number to the prize value
   
   
   Another aspect that we can control! Your active pet's intelligence influences the prize value. If your active pet has intelligence over 45, you'll add 1 to the prize number - this increases by 1 at 75, 95, 140, 175, and 200. So if your active pet has over 200 intelligence, you'll be adding 6 to the prize value
   
   
8. Check the active pet's current HP and add a number to the prize value
   
   
   This one is odd, if your active pet has less than 10 current HP (XX/HP), you increase your prize value! This increase is a random number between 1 and 5, which is added to the prize value
   
   
9. Ensure the prize value fits in the prize table

That's it! Not complicated at all right?

What does it all mean? How do I get the best prizes?
To get the best possible prize, you should:

1. Visit between 00:00:00 NST and 00:59:59 NST, as well as between 22:00:00 and 23:59:59 NST (since you can visit twice a day!)
2. Have your active pet's intelligence be over 200
3. Have your active pet's current HP be less than 10
4. BONUS - Visit on the 15th day of the month

Frequently Asked Questions

• What do you mean active pet's current HP?
  
  This would be the first number in a pets health. For example, if your pet has 25 hit points it will show as 25/25 - this is CURRENT HEALTH / MAXIMUM HEALTH.
  (you need an account to see links) This example has the pet's current health at 3 and maximum health at 48
• How can I get my active pet's current health below 10?
  
  Pretty much anything that damages your pet (fireballs/lightning/ghoul from the wheels, snowager blasts, etc). Losing a battledome fight is the most reliable source
• Why do I keep getting told "Maybe you should wait a while before visiting the shrine again...."?
  
  If you visit within 12 hours you'll get this message. Note that the neopets clock also has had a lot of drift recently - so this may influence what the clock says compared to what the neopets server thinks it is.
• What kind of prizes can I win? Can you really win 1,000,000 NP?
  
  There's a table of prizes based on the prize value we get through all of the steps above. It is indeed possible to win 1,000,000 NP but it is very unlikely. You are also able to win a Kings Lens, which is worth substantially more than the cash prize.
  ** Note that you cannot gain maximum hit points from Coltzan's Shrine (currently listed in the Jellyneo article).

I can understand the hesitation with the n_t content for sure that you and others have expressed. The link that I've referenced is from another user that went a bit more aggressive on spilling the beans on the actual code than n_t normally does - so I figured it was someone new that got the information and wanted to share. N_t confirming it in the comments was an added bonus.

So would we want to have more guides like this based on the information that they've shared? This one felt the most impactful to me - I've personally been testing it out and have seen a step change in the quality and quantity of prizes... That could all be observation bias though lol

I was thinking that people using scripts/bots might also find it useful in scheduling the activity.

First, I really liked your guide! There is a lot of new information that I did not know, thank you.
Second, I understand that when there's a lot of text, centering it is a bit odd. Sometimes I like to put everything inside a table and then center it. It can give the illusion that the text is justified.
