State Sen. Zellnor Myrie (D-Brooklyn) says he was pepper sprayed and handcuffed during the protests that erupted at the Barclays Center Friday night over the death of George Floyd.

I just took a look at his Instagram, and he seems like a very good representative to have.
In his last post, he has specifically called out, by name, two people who must be removed from their positions.
I assume the officer who was involved as well as one of the officer's superiors.

Along with Assemblywoman Diana Richardson (they both represent overlapping districts of Crown Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, and some of Flatbush) that Friday:

Tonight should be rather interesting with curfew at 11pm. Again, I have no faith in the NYPD to keep the peace.

Also, I've been thinking a lot about the Stonewall uprising today as we move into June. I don't think anything occurring over these past days will have been in vain.

Stay safe to anyone protesting today.

Houston Police Chief @ArtAcevedo: “Let me just say this to the President of the United States, on behalf of the police chiefs of this country: please, if you don’t have something constructive to say, keep your mouth shut.”

Holy shit. More of this from law enforcement, please. Make it clear you're not going to come out guns blazing just because the president seems to think shooting civillians with little to no provocation is okay.

Also seeing a lot of conservatives that defended Trump even after the Access Hollywood tape leaked speaking up against him, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

What can make the situation better going forward? I thinkiit will help if we actively try to make the police force be as racially and gender diverse as general public. I think we need to hold them more accountable when things go wrong and innocent people die, I understand it's a tough job but why is there also a lot of push back on body cams and such, just doesn't make sense! They also need a lot more training. Way too easy to become a cop. We don't let just anyone design and build our bridges and skyscrapers, they are all heavily educated or heavily trained, but the average cop doesn't have a lot of education nor training....

National Guard troops were deployed near the White House Monday evening hours after President Donald Trump said he wanted a military show of force against violent protests gripping the nation.

Shortly after, Trump came to the White House Rose Garden to call himself the "law and order" president, saying "domestic terrorism" was to blame for the unrest.

"As we speak, I am dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property," he said. "We will end it now."

He called on governors to use their National Guard units to "dominate the streets" said he would deploy the United States active duty military if governors failed to use the National Guard more forcefully.

This man is a fucking coward
He is no leader, he hides in a bunker and sends in the military to stop protests rather than listen to what they are trying to say.
Declaring war on your own people who are fed up with watching people murdered because of their skin color.

The police need to be held accountable for their actions
No more paid leave when they murder someone or commit a crime. They should be held to a higher standard, not one where they are above "the law"
Investigations done by a third party. No more "we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong" bullshit
Body cams, if I am recorded all day at my job then why are the police above it? No ability to turn them off, if it's disabled the case is thrown out to make cops accountable

That would just be the start, their entire corrupt racist system needs to be dismantled along with the prison system here in the USA.

He can say whatever bullshit he wants from his nasty mouth, but what he is proposing is illegal. Period.

The problem is bigger than this one incident and it runs deep within America's system. I too wish we weren't so divided though.

To agree with your point, I would say a lot of protesters are putting race aside when it comes to solidarity. You see a lot of young white people and other PoC supporting black power because it's not only a fight to save black lives, it's a fight save our country.

Today Trump proposed if states don't get the job done disbanding the protests, he'll get the military to do it for them. He's basically threatened to bring Marshall Law to America over protests. OVER PROTESTS. Where was the military when there was protests about white people not being able to get their hair cut in quarantine? That's right, there wasn't. Because Trump is a white supremacist fascist. It's going to be a war. A war over protesting for human rights. To all of my fellow clraikian Americans, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Please don't give up and keep fighting the good fight. WE can win if WE keep fighting. It's not just about George Floyd anymore, his death was tragic and the reason for the iceberg tipping. It's about the corruption, the police brutality, the systematic racism and the fact that the president of the united states is a fucking psychopath. It's about everything that's wrong. And everything needs to change.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk all.
