If you could buy neo, what are the first actions you would take?

Sorry I keep creating topics, the site is just fun and passionate, and I enjoy all the responses.

What would you do if you could buy neopets. With a reasonable amount of money?

I think I would go out right away and try to hire Adam and his wife, and give them complete control of the direction of the site.
If not, run a significant ad campaign targeted at nostalgia on facebook, and do what Neo is doing. (Create a child/teen friendly mobile game.) With sizable on site rewards to draw the younger crowd from the mobile to the actually site.
Fix the battledome and make it a bigger part of the game as it used to be.
Fun plots again.

I would pardon everyone and unsilence my main. Then I'd change the rules and the general idea that the site is for kids 'cus kids don't have money to spend and we adults like to say a few "bad" words from time to time. Also everyone could mention any social media they like, if someone falls into a scam it would be their problem as stated in the small lines of the thing we accept without reading.

You have to protect your consumers/clients though. If Neo turned into an online Wild West you'd lose the majority of users.

I know it might tank some uc economy but honestly I would make having uc be an option for any pet! Not everyone wants to customize and not everyone can afford to get a uc either by just buying them or trading for them.

I think they need some sort of other security for accounts instead of birthdays so I would definitely change that! I mean I was playing neopets in elementary school! You think I used my actual birthday for half the accounts I made? Nope and sure as hell can't remember them now lol

I lost many of mine either that way or just couldn't remember the pw or orginal email. I doubt TNT would even help me without that information. I like to look at them from time to time longingly. I definitely feel that.

Focus on fixing site features instead of releasing endless mobile apps that also get abandoned. Like, why can't you just remake the shockwave games so we can get our avatars insted of releasing a shitty scrabble app? Fixing BD would also be a priority;
Good new site events (like the old plots);
Either end UCs forever or make them avaliable in some other (limited) way like a premium perk or neocash item;
Focus on your actual playerbase insted of pandering to kids (no kid play this game);
Ah and update all the site's security like ppl above have said. While you are at it, make so we can repeat pets names as well.

As to what I'd do;

• Offer all former team members a position with the site.
• Focus on repairing/replacing broken things on the site.
• Re-release ALL the mobile games/apps (KQ&Habi would both be apps; would also track down the game Nick was developing)
• Offer some sort of in-game compensation for players that donate time/art/coding/etc to the game to increase it's viability
• Start slowly releasing IRL merchandise, and a fan-zine (digital and/or paper)
• Create a 3rd currency that allows for sale of nps/pets/art through legal channels
• Release the NC trading post we were promised and do away with the user created values and most giftboxes
• Allow account linking/combination to reduce the hassle of the current system
• WAR PLOT
• Implement an account sharing method like Howrse.com has.
• Update the mail/board/news systems. Probably not live like FB, but something in-between?
• Reintroduce sponsor games!
• Develop an 'Animal Crossing'-esque farming style game, where you can pay an artist to convert your wearables, or have your pet go nekkid/pre-set wearables into the environment.
• Offer portions of the site to verified mature audiences, and the ability to mark pages/profiles as mature and censored to minors.
• Beef up and extend premium to multiple levels

Why? Because people here are already amazingly skilled + they are familiar/love the website. A super bonus in my opinion.

Next I would also focus on converting the flash aspects into html5 etc.
Then I would release a UC option (NC) and use this opportunity for marketing/advertising and to raise some funds.

Next I would wave more $$$ at some of the amazing artists who already did amazing fanart such as for the paint brush design contest, or the artist who did the mara lutari art.

Then, I would set up a priority list of things that need to be fixed on the website, and I would set up a weekly or monthly poll in the new features to ask neopets users what they would like to see fixed first.

Also, I would perhaps use the random contest more often for getting users to submit their own designs for various things.

They really should poll the users.
I'm a big world of warcraft guy, and I remember the whole "You think you do but you don't"
one poll later and they have a massive success on their hands. Almost like listening to your users... helps?
