Do you ever try to predict which items will become valuable/popular?

I made a couple of good NC investments back in the day (circa 2012-14), but I am at loath to be parted with my money these days on the whims of the NC. I definitely try to play the collectibles market a bit - you never know when that next avatar will bee released (or at least didn't back in the day lol).

I try doing this with obvious inflatable items like event-exclusive album items, but I don't always have the capital to do so.

I'm dead clueless when it comes to NC values and investing. Or at least I didn't really consider it much back in 2012-14 when I was buying a lot. I gave a lot of things away that later inflated, usually things like bonus items I got multiples of. For me it doesn't really matter because I don't trade very much, but sure as shit would be nice to have spare Cherry Blossom String Lights or Radiant Sunflower Arbours even if I would just continue to sit on my dragon horde. Just to know the option was there.

I've given up trying to guess what will end up being expensive, I'm always wrong. I just know that hoarding as many stamps as I can get my hands on when they're given out as an event prize is my safest bet and just holding onto it for 5 years. It's slow, but at least I don't lose anything in the end anymore.

While I'm somewhat good at wearing things irl before they become trendy, I'm rubbish at predicting NP trends. Pastel things are usually a safe bet though, as in any (semi) dress up game. Pastels for your Transparent pet? Groundbreaking.

Everything that comes from site events will eventually gonna restock for A LOT. From Altor Cup, Daily Dare, and site plots. In less than two years items like backgrounds sell for 2mil+.

I definitely try and predict with nc items, if its something I would like to have, I try and get one before it retires/isn't available since out of nowhere item values can just get out of control. Been a few times I forgot about something and then it cost a lot later. I really just do it to avoid user interaction later lmao

They probably did go up until they got rred and people bought hundreds of dws caps.

Tnt rred all the dyeworks a while back so only a few stayed really valuable because everyone still wanted them.
