Fashion Inspiration for Neopets Clothes?

So ... at what point does it cross over from inspiration to plagiarism? Most of the examples in AmandaBynes' post are straight-up copies.

Thank you for taking the time to compile this list, it's really impressive! Plus, it's really nice to see where the staff gets their inspiration from.

Of course! I had a lot of fun looking through random stock photos to find them

I don�t know clothing items too well but backgrounds I can spot the similarities instantly so it is lacking in that area

I should specify the majority of these appear to be inspired by IRL locations/photographs taken of them, some are paintings or generic wallpapers though that you can find by googling the general theme of It

I�ll keep adding to it as I see more and I know there�s a few I still need to add

ALSO not all were found by me, there were a few I pulled from the FB group posts

If they're all stock images, then it's not plagiarism because they become free-use or paid-for, I think.

I didn't realize so many items were copies of other photos/artwork.

I was wondering the same thing, but like AmandaBynes said, 99% of these are stock images and not fanart or anything like that, and at least they aren't traced?

I didn't expect so many examples, that's for sure! I'm the opposite, I'm good at spotting clothes, but horrible with BGs. I'll keep an eye out for more outfits to add to that list!

I did notice lots of similar Barbie clothing items, not too far fetched they would use those ones since essentially they turned neopets into Barbie dolls with fists

Haha, good point! Maybe you already knew, but after doing some digging I found out the brand that was the inspiration for the Queen of the forest dress is called Firefly Path! They seem to do a lot of fantasy inspired clothing, so maybe neopets has taken inspiration from their other creations as well.

They seem to do a lot of fantasy inspired clothing, so maybe neopets has taken inspiration from their other creations as well.

Omg I bet they totally did too, I just realized if you look closely on the IRL Queen of the Forest dress too it says the brand name on it, I would have had no idea what that meant had you not pointed it out!!

Every new background now I am gonna make it a game to find the stock photo
