Had to postpone my own wedding guys. Needless to say I'm a little peeved. I'm sure it was the right decision though...I would hate to get someone sick and there were a lot of older people coming. Still sucks.
I've been homebound since before this all broke, but I'm about to head into the fray tomorrow. I've got a specialist appointment at an enormous clinic, so god knows what I'm gonna get blasted with. I'd try to get the appointment rescheduled for later out, but my shit isn't great right now. Everyone gimme some "don't get infected" luck.

Update
My friend is a covid nurse in NYC. There are not enough N95 masks, so the staff is exposed and wearing normal masks. She was coughed on last night by a confirmed covid positive patient and is now herself already experiencing symptoms.
Current hospital protocol is to NOT test employees or the young. Only at risk populations or the severely ill.
So she doesn't know if she's positive or just has a seasonal flu. Her coworkers and other patients will not get tested since she technically does not have a positive test and are considered secondhand exposures. If she was tested as positive though, we still wouldn't know if the infection was due to the direct cough last night or if she was infected upwards of 2 weeks ago and was asymptomatic until now.
I have come in contact with her within the last 2 weeks, so I placed myself in a WFH quarantine.

Shit, where are you stranded Crow?
No way you can drive home?

That’s the difficulty with them not standardising tests - we have to isolate because it’s ‘suspected’ and many people who have been in contact with self isolaters that suspect it, are very concerned they may now be carriers yet at the moment we are still continuing to work (for those in open essential businesses)
I don’t feel like we are getting enough information about this virus and I am quite frightened at the worlds response - I’ve not seen a reaction to a virus like this before. And it’s spreading fast.
We also have no idea what people are expected to do if they isolate for 7days and symptoms improve? I mean that’s the catch isn’t it - if they improve are they safe to go out again and are they likely to catch it again? I have heard of some
Repeat infection cases where they tested positive negative and positive again.
It was later confirmed that it wasn't a repeated infection but the antibodies in the blood left from the original infection were giving false positive reaction.
The problem is some researches suggest the virus can stay in the body up to 30+ days after the disease it induced is cured and nobody actually know how long the carrier could be potentially infecting others. It's still in the process of researching so I guess we'll just have to wait. Scientists and doctors are doing their best. Last info I read was that after infection you'll most probably get immunity.

Stupid kids making coronavirus challenges on tiktok....licking door knobs and toilet seats. Darwin take the wheel...
I've been in quarantine for a week now, the number of cases here is growing and so is the widespread panic, sadly. So far I'm relatively calm about it, my employer sent us home before the virus hit the local community and bf's company followed suit the next day. Our govn't has (surprisingly) been pretty much on top of it, perhaps a bit too late but tough. We've had a tiny, and stable, number of cases without local transmission, until someone decided that boarding a plane with flu-like symptoms isn't all that bad. And then went on about their daily lives as per usual. And then 20 other people did the same thing. I understand the suffocating grip of fear, financial constraints, and being away from family so... not going to pass an /AITA judgement here
Shopping is a pain in the ass, I regret not investing in a proper water filter XD
We're not hoarding anything, trying to cling to the belief that if we all just calm the fuck down a bit then eeeeeveryone will get by. I do realize that that's somewhat wishful thinking, with so many jobs on the line
Working from home is nice and I wouldn't call our situation dire at all, but I'm worried for our parents and loved ones who still commute and have a hard time finding/buying the bare essentials. So yeah, my biggest concerns about this whole thing are the wellbeing of our family and the security of our jobs, really.
On a lighter note, it hasn't really affected me much. I've been training for this!!! Not really lol, but being introverted is a perk sometimes. My friends and colleagues have a hard time adjusting (especially those with young children) but as far as my daily life goes, I've settled into a pretty solid and comfortable routine :] A little bummed out about all the festivals and concerts that have been cancelled or postponed here, but it looks like the whole of 2020 is being cancelled so eh - we'll party harder next year! XD
