I understand that it was still random after activating the perk but I redeemed the max redemption possible and still got nothing.

Still thankful I got the 3/4 randoms available in that perk.

The only other randoms that aren't are Buried Treasure, Turmaculus, Island Mystic, Deserted Tomb, Discarded Grundo, Apple Bobbing, Forgotten Shore, Neggbreaker.
