We were interested in seeing the movie for the irony, but it ended up being mildly enjoyable. Sonic wasn't an insipid 90s cool guy like his previous incarnations, so that was nice! There were a few too many unsubtle nods to franchises and products, but I guess that's how you cushion yourself in the event of a box office free fall.

What can I say, really? It's a kid's movie that's loosely based on a plot from a video game which never gave me the impression that it had a story to tell. It's a fairly tame way to spend an evening out!
