Merch you would actually buy?

This talk of rugs and television shows made me think about the type of merch that would actually make me take out my wallet and pay for international shipping. Idk what happens at jumpstart brainstorming sessions, but I'm honestly confused why these ideas were the best that came of it. I think as people who like neopets a lot, and also like buying things, it could be fun to pitch ideas that we think would be rad. Obviously, it won't change anything, but imagining a dream business plan is fun, no?

IMO, Neo would do best by collborating with companies that are currently relevant, in order to have access to actual production/distribution resources, and start raising hype online. I think makeup would be hugely successful - colourpop does a fuckton of collabs, which are almost always reviewed by youtubers, who're the peak age for neopets nostalgia, and typically have younger audiences who could be influenced to see wtf the whole thing is about, which is the perfect in to the demographic neopets is after.

Something like this would be so easy to put together, would be a great collectable if the palette had a cute design, and has the benefit of being able to be worn in public without annoucing "I PLAY NEOPETS!!" to the world.

What would y'all do if you were suddenly put in charge of merchandising for neopets?

This is going to sound silly, but wax melts and / or candles. Imagine having your apartment being able to smell like Fyora's room (or something equally posh)!

Nintendo Switch decals, cell phone covers, pop sockets, magnets, post-its, an officially licensed Android icon pack, special edition Vans shoes or Chuck Taylors, earrings (a set of the Neopets stars, maybe? If we're going with the "can wear it without outing myself" theme?), mousepad...

A lot of these things would require external licensing. A ColourPop palette is a super cute idea!

I think that as most people who'd buy this stuff are grown-ass adults, it being really nicely made and well themed but also a bit discrete would be ideallll - like I like irreverent, quirky home goods, but I'm not plopping a big rug with the neo map in my living room, but something small like a candle would be super desirable.

In terms of apparel, I'd lovvve a Lazy Oaf collab - (you need an account to see links), can you imagine something like this with kacheeks? I'd go broke.

First of all, I would absolutely buy neopets themed eyeshadow made by a reputable company, I think that's an awesome idea!

Secondly, here's my WL from another post:

• official buttons and other random con-type merch
• s t a t i o n e r y. With iconic neopets themes; classic paintbrushes or petpets
• phone cases with favourite characters (Coltzan, Isca, Hannah, faeries, Sloth)

If I'd get something I'd wear, I personally prob would opt for something more subtle, so nothing with characters or actual Neopets on it. I wanna be in public like..."if you know, you know"

Soup Faerie kitchen items - omg! You could do a whole Faerie line - Earth Faerie gardening tool line, Air Faerie towel set, Water Faerie bathroom line (blue patterned shower curtains, a cool toothbrush holder), Dark Faerie makeup brush set to go with your palette...

Also, who here plays D&D? I'd go ham on some cool Neopets dice.

Ok so I love the ideas here so far =O
Basically what I would love it to be is not to copy-paste their default art onto some shit.
What I would love it to be is like Pokemon.
Yes Pokemon does this for their stuff aimed at kids a lot.
However, when you visit a Pokemon Centre in Japan you will find gorgeous pastel etc. designs of all their stuff.
I hate the standard anime pics posted on stuff, but I adore the special art that is actually pretty.
Imagine some of the Neopets TCG art printed on some stuff?

OMG soup faerie tea towels I would buy 5000 <3__<3 I feel like the paintbrushes are also such a perfect neopets motif - like it's so recognizable, but it's also just independently a neat image anyone might like???

I feel like screenprinted reusable cloth grocery bags would be perfect - a bit lower stakes than the "hello welcome to my bed, have you seen my kougra" pillow? IMO more people would be interested in having fun, novelty items that are genuinely well made and aesthetically appealing? If they need to charge prices like that for merch, it really should reflect that in terms of thought put into design.
