They're cute, I'm kinda optmistic with this. I know that the site is dying and have lots of flaws and broken things, but this made me pretty excited

He's the same actor, here in his role as Jared from Silicon Valley - strongly recommended!

I watched the videos and I'm trying to be optimistic here, but the 2 were produced by their subsidiary, ZooMoo, whose catalogue maxes out at 45 second clips. That, while cute, are about the same production value as a final project for an animation course

To remain positive and not be a negative bitch all the time, I note that the product is way cleaner and more professional than the Advent Calendar offerings. I think it'll be fun to see. I just think it's a misuse of funds & do not understand this company's long-term strategic vision, if such a thing exists

The article says that Beach House is only creating new stories and characters. A different Blue Ant subsidiary is animating the series. I think it is likely Look Mom! Productions since that is the only Blue Ant Media asset listed as being located in Canada, the location the article listed for animation. They have created this, which I believe has a full season:



Certainly not the highest quality, but definitely better than a final project

Also, it is not confirmed yet since they are still looking for co-producers and a broadcasting platform. They haven't even confirmed the target audience from the sounds of that article.

I hope that if this happens they�ll have a target audience like Spongebob rather than like Paw Patrol. I�d love to be able to enjoy it rather than it be like a learning show. I can�t imagine what they�d make the series about, like already created Neo characters like the faeries, Sloth etc or create entirely new ones. This is also exciting because if it were something that ended up being created and was actually good and popular the nostalgic kid in me can�t help but think of all the swag that would come out for me to blow my money on.

neopets isn't going to be popular with 8-12s. we had that phase, it peaked, then sunk, which is how media works. it's a clunky site, it's not fun on mobile, and kids who grew up with these incredible apps aren't going to think a flash game like hasee bounce is fun. i think neo needs to look to lisa frank for an example of how to make wildly popular nostalgia content successful again - look at who likes it, and make them happy so they tell their friends, who will likely like it for the same reasons. get the people who already like it to convince other people to like it, rather than starting fresh and trying to convince a whole new demo to like it. just like with lisa frank, the aesthetic is very kid friendly, and if you get traction with that demographic, great, but that can't be the whole thing - especially if your resources and execution are what jumpstart is working with right now. selling neo to 8-12 is a huge undertaking, and i find it hard to believe the current team has the skills to make it happen.

brand collaborations would be sick - a colourpop palette would sell OUT - and remind people who played as kids it still is a thing, and is even more fun now. beautiful stickers that people can put on laptop covers or waterbottles? an accessory line - i would pay mad bucks for a wocky handbag, or baby paintbrush earrings. anything that an influencer might like will generate space for people to remember this place exists, and come back. look at those vice articles about the 20 year anniversary - that was a huge boost in buzz that just...wasn't capitalized on at all?

this just seems like??? who is it for? children's animation is better now than it's ever been, but it's a crowded market, and neopets is overvaluing it's independant relevancy outside the people who are active for whatever reason.

actually, i'd be hella down for a surrealist advent calender-esque production with all puppets? something you could hypothetically show a child but could also watch while high, with neopets theming? down af. something a little cheeky and very weird could have success, and i can see puppetry being strange enough for people to watch even if they're not into neopets.
