Since the production company looks like one that targets a younger demographic, the pillow and the rug make sense now - potential merch for a kid's playroom or bedroom.

This is probably a big, all-in way to generate revenue that they can put towards fixing the site. After all, it'd be hard to convince higher-ups to budget for more developers and artists for a dead brand. But if they can say, "Hey, Neopets as a brand generated [X] dollars last quarter due to the new TV show, projections show that will increase to [Y] amount over the next year, so we're worth investing in." Then the fixes start rolling in! Because at that point it's profitable (or, the parent co. senses it could be profitable) to hire devs / artists / what-have-you for a bigger brand.

Edit to say: totally not meaning to sound pedantic here (nor do I know if this is actually their plan!).

JN buys the website knowing its current demographic but creates a program targeted at 8-12 year olds? I mean perhaps they are on to something as that's the target demo for a lot of YT personalities who sell merch if they are looking at it from the NC angle.

But you're absolutely correct. I just wonder how they square that with the icky adults playing Neopets who have the disposable income to buy NC and all.
