Post Help me find a short story!

    Hello fellows!
As you may (or not) know, I'm a digital artist.
And I'm currently aiming to become into an illustrator, a well versed in story telling illustrator.
Right now I want to test my skills with a children's tale/story.
I wan't something short that calls for a good visual part to bring the reader really into the story.
Extra points if this tale is not just short but diverse, some mythic tale from an exotic place.
If you know any tale that could fill the profile, please tell me (I'd be most grateful if you link me to the story).
    Thank you!

I don't know if it technically qualifies as a children's tale but I read "Beowulf and Grendel" when I was an early reader and it always captivated my imagination and I loved it!

Also, almost any of the Aesop's Fables!

If you like fables and the like, something like this might work. If you reimagined it with woodland creatures it would be adorable.
