So, please share your experiences, recommendations... and why.

I just got back from a two day hiking expedition in Michigan's upper peninsula. There is a bunch of national forests and places to hike. Specifically, I went to Tahquamenon Falls. The waterfalls were very pretty and the water was surprisingly warm, but it felt really good. If you don't mind not having cell service, upper Michigan nature is nice. So many trees still untouched.
I've also been to Hoh rainforest in Washington State, US. The drive there is super pretty with very tall mountains with lots of pine trees and streams running through them. The forest is a pretty good hike, just watch out for bears, haha. Bonus...you get to drive through Forks to get there..ya know..from the movie twilight lol.
If you're comfortable with the cold I'd recommend touring Iceland as well.
If you wanted to venture further afield and come Europe way, the UK has some breathtaking countryside that is ideal for hiking. Personally I absolutely love the Lake District, it's stunning and a hiker's paradise. You've got Wales and it's lovely national parks such as Snowdonia and Scotland is just amazing...and you can drive between all 3 countries quicker than you can get across most States
If you like a challenge, there's the 3 Peaks Challenge. Basically you hike the highest point of England, Scotland and Wales in a 24h period. (you need an account to see links)
It's not all about London and the Queen over here...but you could go and experience that too since nothing is that far

Hello
Portugal is a cheap destination for foreigners and we have beautiful landscapes: Boca do Inferno (the devil's mouth) in Cascais by the ocean; Douro valley; Serra da Estrela (Star Sierra); all the beaches and natural parks; or in the archipelago like in Azores the lake of 7 cities (St Miguel island); or even chosing a random location and explore it by yourself. Walking randomly in an unkown place is the best. Not always the famous places are the prettiest and enjoyable.
It is a country with a huge variety, but since it is small is easy to tour a lot of different places in a small amount of time and in the cheapest ways (and eating good food).
And there are a lot of awsome cycle routes across Europe (you can do them by walking). The one from the Atlantic to the Black Sea is marvelous (called eurovelo 6).
Tobermory for the Ontarians!

According to the Thrillest Top 25 List of National Parks, Yosemite ranks #1. It literally has everything from mild, easy trials, to the largest slab of granite in the world. Theres also lakes and rivers where you can go swimming or rafting.

There's some really breathtaking hikes in the Canadian Rockies, but I am a special fan of the Tea House hikes at Lake Lousie in Alberta. Not only do you get to see the lake, but the 25km hike to the upper tea house take you up through the glacier and is actually a very challenging hike.
Mount Indefatigable is another great one - there's a variety of turning points, or you can do the full 2 night trail and get picked up on the other end.
