If I'm going to buy a UC, should I go the PC known or unknown route? Would it be safer to have someone "gift" me their PC known pet that is already secured? Or if unknown, is it better to keep it on an unlinked side, does that help me with safety? Is there an UTD aftercare guide? I'm scared shitless to try this
I'd say it depends on the situation, although it's important to note that no pet is truly "PC safe", rather the more accurate term would be "PC known". It's impossible for a pet to be "safe", and just because a pet is well recognized on the PC does not make it safe. However, depending on your situation, you may have better odds of avoiding getting "caught" if you buy a PC known pet (and in other situations it may be better to stick to PC unknown pets).
Buyers are generally discouraged from going onto the boards/especially the PC with bought pets right after purchasing the pet, however, if that's absolutely what you want to do, PC known UCs may be a better option, especially if you have never owned UCs prior to purchasing said pet. You still need to take the same additional measures to make sure having the pet on your account is realistic; build up your account stats, work on your collections/gallery, make sure you don't have just the 1 UC and otherwise all VBN converted basics; invest in some NC (or at least some nice NP wearables) to make your pets look pretty and "loved", etc.
And like @(you need an account to see links) said, established sellers will be able to provide guidance in terms of preparing for the transfer, transferring the pet, and the after care process

Another thing to consider is whether or not you're active on the boards originally. Do you have PC friends who would ask if you suddenly have a new UC? If your account is relatively unknown by other users, I think you'd benefit from a PC-unknown UC that you can say that you've owned for many years. Like mentioned before, staying off the boards for at least a few months increases your chances of not being reported/caught.
Thanks for the responses. I am active on the PC, that's my problem. Some thoughts I had were first, I have an aged unknown side I could move it to and just enjoy for myself, should I be ok with that? Would there be any way for someone to find me that way? What if it sat for a year and then someone found it and reported it, how long does TNT track trades? What's the golden timeframe where if it's sat for long enough it's ok? Then I thought about maybe if there was active PCers here who could "give" me a pet that really I paid for, no one would know right? I thought that would seem the safest because then it's a known pet TNT probably already checked out and people could report all they wanted but there would be no way to prove what I did. I don't know, like I said I'm scared shitless but I really want to do this

A ton of people here will tell you to keep your UC off the PC at all costs, and they're not wrong. But if you're like me and being on the PC is part of your experience on Neo, then it's still possible. Just know yeah it's a risk that people are gonna report you because the PC is full of dickheads. But I've totally bought UCs, some known some not, and traded them on the PC. No issues yet, but you gotta be smart about it. Like make sure your account looks legit and active and have a believable story and maybe people to vouch for you.
