I recently came back to neopets to realize how few players there are left. Got me wondering are people still playing because of the time they have invested or nostalgic reasons? Is there any newer pet sims that have a bigger player base?
Dappervolk was supposed to be the replacement for all pet sites, but it turned out to be super boring and the administration is absolutely dogshit. I think the era of pet sims is over, they were popular when there wasn't such a wide selection of free to play games like today
Flight Rising is still pretty popular, isnt it? I havent been on in a long time but every time I randomly log into my tumblr, it seems their tag is still pretty active.
Flight Rising seems to be the big one right now. It still seems to be doing pretty well for itself. On a lower key I know sites like Dragon Cave and Magi Stream have kept a pretty stable population for quite some time now too. They are def less popular than before though and I do think a lot of it comes down to the type of restrictions and management that comes into play on the older sites.
If neopets adopted rules more like the ones FR has, i'd be much more inclined to play.
