Not really. If you're affected, it's literally life/death/survival vs thriving. For those of us heavily affected by policy, whose very beings are politicized, it's overwhelming. I could never be in the position where I go "politics? BORING." I don't mean affected in that your job has to do with it: i mean affected in that your very life depends on it.

Grew up in a very non-political family (like my parents wouldn't let us watch the news and my dad's like super anti-govt) so I didn't really even pay attention to politics until high school, but still paid very little attention.

I went to a very leftist liberal arts college in new england and thus became super leftist as a product of my environment. That held out even the first year after I graduated.

Then my life fell the fuck apart and the people who helped put my life back together were all centrists who slowly red-pilled me.

So now I identify as a centrist or alt-centrist or progressive centrist. I voted for Bernie Sanders, then for Hillary Clinton (even though I dislike her; I just thought she was the lesser of two evils at the time). I used to hate Trump and fear his followers but now idk he's just kinda funny and leftists tend to make me cringe. I live in a very liberal/leftist community and I actually kinda hate it now. I've lost a lot of friends since coming out as centrist and being honest about it (even got threatened by some "friends"). So yeah that's fun.

Uh my ex-bff accused me of being a "nazi sympathizer" because I refuse to punch people that I disagree with and I don't condone or support violence in general. I favor diplomacy and communication above everything. My strongest political belief is this: I will not commit or condone violence against another person until they have personally commit violence against another human or animal. Apparently it's an unpopular opinion.

I've personally lost all hope in humanity and am waiting for the zombie apocalypse to ensue.

I used to lean left, but as I get older I'm shifting towards "none of the above" and "my vote doesn't matter anyway, and even if it did, things rarely rarely change, so who cares?" American politics swings back and forth like a pendulum with a slow tilt towards social and economic progress. Wherever you stand on the spectrum as a short-lived individual is insignificant in the long run.

The thing that bothers me is we waste so much time spinning our wheels and squabbling over moral or philosophical disagreements that we slow our scientific progress and educational growth as a country (and species) way down. I don't really care what party is in power frankly because both keep up this dumbed-down FYGM mentality. The far-right just happens to be the most annoying to me personally and at the moment, because, "alternative facts". You can say you dgaf about global warming, but you don't get to assert that it doesn't exist. Willful ignorance or misrepresentation of objective reality and facts gets under my skin no matter what people are talking about or who's side they're on.

I used to be a hard leftie. Now I'm a centrist with a bitter hatred for extremists of either side.

I'm probably center-left. Grew up in a very conservative household but in a very liberal city.

I'm center right. My dad is hard right and is prepping for the eventual collapse of the government with stockpiles of ammo, but most of my friends are super left and equally as crazy. I love them all, but let's be honest: Politically, I'm Team Give-all-our-money-to-NASA-and-lets-invade-space.
