I think he was specifically referring to the difficulty, but you are right. I can't find the interview in full so I can't confirm everything he said.
He DID mention new Pokemon, though. It would be a little weird to introduce new Pokemon in a game that isn't a core series game, but it's a whole new console, and they're rich. They can do literally anything and people will buy it, hahaha.

I do remember Pokemon Battle Revolution! The graphics were amazing when it came out. I prefer Pokemon Stadium (and Stadium 2) because you could do a lot more with it, though. Those minigames were so fun when you had friends over.
