I wonder if ClubPenguin will be like Disney's other online games (Toontown and Pirates of the Caribbean Online) where Disney grants some developers to rehost the game and relaunch it?

Not entirely sure why it closed. Guess it wasn't getting enough people probably. Sadly that's what's going on with most of these kind of sites nowadays

It closed to launch a new app called Club Penguin Island which everybody hates including myself. Club penguin was the best game when I was little.

apparently someone made the old club penguin called clubpenguin rewritten. lol
