When I was in middle school-ish (2001-2004?) I used to love crawling the pound for painted pets and LE. I never got anything that was actually that exciting, but at the time an Electric Nimmo seemed so cool. I eventually got the lab ray and to pay it forward I started adopting pets with shitty names, zapping until I got one of the nicer colors, then abandoned again. This all stopped around the time I took a hiatus in 2007. In retrospect, I definitely abandoned pets nicer than the ones I found and some definitely went on to be UCs. I take strange comfort in the fact that I usually chose to take pity on pets with names like s0_kewl_777777.
Eventually I came back and I love being a nerd and telling this story but I'm tired and don't want to hype up dramatics, so tl;dr 2013 surf pet led me to meet my current gf.

I remember I caught an ice pet once (cant remember the species).
There was someone with a bd seeking ice pets so i traded with them. And a week later i ended up with an uc mutant usul.
The BD wasnt even high, had like 450HSD.
I ended up with several UCs the same way, not direct trades for them but i was lucky to find someone looking exactly for what i had more than once

Year ago before the whole UC thing started, I adopted a grey Jetsam with pretty high stats, cost me about 2 mil. The owner messaged me saying it was a pound transfer mix up and I ended up giving him back. I was nicer back then.
A few years ago I saw a UC faerie ixi in the pound. I was pretty upset that I didn't catch it, I would have loved to keep a uc fae ixi, but I guess it was a risky pound transfer to someone adopting it because I later saw the same ixi listed on a "happily rehomed" adoption page lol.

I saw an UC Faerie Lenny a few weeks ago. I was just looking for a lab rat, sadly I wasn't quick enough. I found a pretty uncommon RN back when the purge was happening, I adopted her out to an owner who still has her. Oh, and I found a basic pet with a zapped petpet on it. When I went to change her name I noticed that the original petpet was a Frogarott.
Found a 4L Baby Kau in the Pound way back in 2008, I remember getting so many mails of people claiming the pet to be theirs xD That's when painted pets were considered something when found in the Pound lmao.
