Neopets in-game chat preference: forum style vs realtime chat?

Do you guys like the neopets forum-style boards? I'm talking about when it was back in the day and the boards would get filled in just a few mins and your post would be on the second page in no-time. Would you guys prefer a real-time chat instead of the forum? What are your thoughts?

Personally, I've always liked the classic feel to the neoboards over real-time chat. That way you can go back to posts that you missed and scroll through the ones that interest you.

I also prefer the forum style for chatting. It would be nice if the threads had an auto-update feature where you didn't have to refresh to view new posts, though. That's my biggest peeve about it lol

I'm fine with the boards being the forum format they are, but I wish there was an instant messaging style chat for neomails. Especially if it came up in the bottom corner like facebook so I don't have to pop open new windows while I play browser games like solitaire or scarab 21.

I like the forums the way they are but I miss the features that don't work anymore, like the online time for neofriends which was helpful to create a feel or real life time chat conversations when neomailing and stalking friends and so on... if that was still a thing I guess it would be more balanced.

If I'm being honest, neo's forum system is pretty old and lacks a lot of features that most forums have had for a long time. That said, I still prefer it solely because of the nostalgia factor.
