How to get away with bought UCs on your main?

A buddy of mine gave me a BN uc pet for Xmas and I still am debating on whether or not to try and get into the entire pc trading thing. I really want two upper tier pets and one is over a hundred dollars if I wanted to buy, but still I also don't want to bother with potential drama.

I've seen some people sell pets for a lower tier UC + USD/NP/NCs perhaps you could do that? I think I might trade one of my pets for a UR soon, legitimately, and I was thinking of doing that to try to get a t6 faerie.
