So I'm always trying to put these guys in a position where it looks like they made a good move for what they've done, and they've got their head in the right direction.
Well, they just fucked that up for more than just cheaters.
TNT recently (within the last few weeks/days I believe) implemented an autoban system I believe into the email recovery for accounts.
It started like this.
A couple weeks ago I go to jokingly give someone a pet.
The account was disabled.
Weird. The account was Email recovered and signed in to be sure the PW didn't glitch on recovery.
Chalk it up to I made a mistake somewhere.
Same time I'm going and securing some pet names I like and think nothing of it.
Move pets from shells, and they're all secure. Safe and sound.
Couple nights ago I try to recover an account with the email.
I recreate the email, change the password and go to sign in.
-Type the username and password
-Bad password page (Frozen accounts still go to this page in addition to the index page. It can be either or)
Weird. Maybe I fucked up.
-Try entering password again
-Redirected to index page
Whoa wtf
-Ask friend to check lookup of account for me
-This account has been disabled.
I go and I check a bunch of my other Email recovered accounts (All through unreg Hotmail emails)
All frozen, including shells that I sent pets to.
So my guess is this.
The PC didn't track down all the pets that I found and reported them.
And no one definitely noticed that I was getting into an unreg email account before I even got into it.
So I think TNT implemented some sort of email recovery autoban system.
If that's the case, they're REALLY fucking themselves in the ass since the PW reset affected the majority of all inactive accounts.
If anyone wants to come back to the site but their password is changed, they need to email recover their account. And if there's an autoban system, then they're going to just freeze all their returning players.
I'd like to throw in as well, that all my frozen accounts were Hotmails.
A buddy of mine said that their unreg account they just recreated with a Yahoo email is safe so it may just be restricted to Hotmail emails.

Also. If anyone's open to some suggestions on anything else going on, I'm open to them.
I'll add that I change IP's far more frequently than most people, and I clear my cache daily.
But nothing but my unreg email accounts are being affected.

This has happened to two of my accounts too.

ugh
so basically - hunting down names and accounts is now useless?
I reset my passwords via email a few weeks back and I think I'm fine... at least for now? Or does this only happen if the email was unregistered? How would they know that? O__o

I've created a couple unregs in the past week and they're all safe still. I know at least one or two were hotmail emails.
There's other ways to track you aside from IP. Maybe they were specifically watching you?
as a method of security its good tbh... I mean if you are the real owner you can send a ticket for the account js.
It would be if they answered tickets fast but sadly, when the support system of Neopets is so incompetent and slow, sending them means waiting for months for an answer. So, even as a legit returning player, you won't be getting anything good from that and you might as well be considered a cheater once they actually decide to reply, for trying to get back your own account
Can verify this, have lost multiple accounts for no apparent reason other than the fact that they were from unregistered emails
