OP said it wasn't that drastic but in a similar vein. They said they would announce why they are collecting info in a few days time. OP definitely has my curiosity piqued.
Though I am not really sure what they will be able to do with the data being collected. It has confirmation bias written all over it.

i like what they're trying to do in terms of having that data, but i feel like a generalised survey that is also targeted towards the entire subreddit (i.e. also people who've never had issues with these things) would be a much better way of assessing the problem

So probably something to do with that, them wanting attention again like they did before with that whole lawsuit nonsense.
I swear, some of their staff seem obsessed with hating Neopets and Jumpstart now a days. Not even sure why they put in their time there if they hate the site so much.

I do wonder why they don't send auto notification emails to frozen accounts. If they can send an email informing you that your pet is out of the neolodge it shouldn't be too hard for an auto email to be sent that goes something like
"You account(neoid) has been frozen for (reason). If you disagree with this action you may file a report here (link)."
Would show an improvement in customer service I think and cut down on some of the research time since the client filing the ticket will have an idea of where to start.

You know, actually, that's a good point, there's this guy who pops in my guild's thread just to bash on JS every so often, it's a pain in the ass to listen to him. TBH, yeah, JS does have problems, Neo is not what it was before, but what's the point of bringing that back up every time? Trying to shoo people away from the site?
