Ahhhh, one of the classics

In some parts of 'Murica, coke means soda.

I learned it the hard way when I was in my English class discussing with my teacher and other students, and for some reason, it came up that I told them how annoyed I was at my brother for always asking me to bring him coke. Of course, I meant Cola, but both the teacher and the students burst out laughing. :')
In my defense, we also call it Coke in Quebec.
It's cool, bro. People who call soda coke aren't nearly as onxious as people who call it pop.

noooo this is so funny
i was in spain recently and i dont ever really pronounce the 'ke' part it's always just a sort of clipped 'co' so this spanish waiter is out here like "would you like a drink?" and im like "coke" and he just hears "co" and is like. what. and i couldnt remember the full name of coke, and in my city we call it 'ginger' so i helpfully go "EH... GINGER MATE" as if a spanish guy working minimum wage is gonna know what the fuck GINGER is. i just wanted a coke but not this badly so i just said "ah i said 'no'," and to finish up this moment of brilliance i translate it for him. i know some spanish so it should be easy right? so i say, "non, merci!" and thats the story of why i cant show my face in spain anymore because of coke but not in the way airport security would think.
