i think its kind of unfair for JumpStart to be lumped into that because everything on the website is still from when Viacom owned it.
lord knows they havent changed a whole lot..

And JumpStart is taking way too much shit lately. Imagine buying a company and having to learn the ins and outs of every department immediately. It's not easy.
Edit: Just read the article. I assumed it was about the "hacking" that happened a few years ago but it's not. They might as well accuse Google, Yahoo, and other big sites. These companies have been doing it since the beginning.

wow that sucks for js
idk how big js is but if they've gotta pay up on this is the site gonna take a hit?
because i feel like it is, although with the regular decline who knows if it'll be noticeable. |:
80,000 is pocket change for jumpstart.
Neopets on the other hand.....

Oh, wow.
Could be the final nail in the coffin.
Really unfair for JS to get hit with this.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but maybe this will be a wake up call for Jumpstart.
It's been 2 1/2 years and they haven't done much of anything for the site. Serves them right.
I know they got it under shitty circumstances, but 2 1/2 years and they couldn't figure out they shouldn't have been tracking kids?
Surely that's something they would HAVE to know about.
They gotta figure some shit out to fix not just Neo's playability. But multiple apparent legal issues that we've seen now.

Beyond true!
2 and half years that's a lot of time they should know in's and out's by now or maybe there team just doesn't give a fuck which makes a lot of sense if true.
I just assume at this point NP will die with JS unless they have a master plan that they're working on something ground breaking for the site......i dream a lot but i can hope too....
I'd support a go fund or something to buy it off JS for sure.

I don't understand how their facebook plugin can track children.. Don't you have to be logged into facebook? If you're logged into facebook via the plugin, then aren't you agreeing to facebook's rules that you're old enough to be on there? What are the defining as "children?" Most neopet players are in their 20's now.. There are still some below 18, but I feel like that amount is the minority now. Plus, you only have to be 13 to access all aspects of neopets, so children under 13 is an even smaller pool. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this because I didn't read the law they mentioned... but it seems like a major stretch.
I agree that it sucks for JS, but hopefully it is a wakeup call for them. I just don't want to see JS say it's the final straw for neopets...
