playing neopets again after almost 5 years..

    aloha lovelies,

i'm not sure if anybody i know is still kickin' around but hi!

i've just logged in to my neopets account after a really, really long time and it seems like not much has changed aside from a handful of new paint brushes and the pirate stuff being not so rare anymore. my account is a bit of a shell, i made it straight after i was frozen the last time and just let it sit.

what do i do now? what's cool? is cheating easier or harder?

are there new sought after pets? it looks like the lab map pieces have been inflated again..

tell me all i need to know

Welcome back. One big change is an annual (last 2 years) even called Charity Corner. You exchange 5 items of a certain type, like school, clothing or toys, for a random one. If you do 5 r90-r99s, you get 1 random r90-99. It affected the economy quite a bit.

Birthday cupcakes changed BD pets. Can adopt a pet on its birthday, get a cake that gives +5 to str, def or HP, then pound. Repeat every day for easy stats.

(you need an account to see links) This petpage gives a summary of changes made every year, which might be useful for you to look at.

Game's pretty dead tbh. It's sort of a shame. Shops restock better now though.

Doesn't cost much to run so they'll probably just run it into the ground after they squeeze all the $ they can out of it, but the economy is pretty bust and the number of people who still actively play is tragic. Pretty good indicator is that there's never more than 3-4 pages of auctions any more.

Sometimes I wonder if they removed the number of players currently online counter on the front page to make it less obvious how low activity is now.

Same deal with other aspects of the site that depend on user activity. You can win the Beauty Contest first place overall with barely 100 votes now, whereas once it would have taken 1k votes. You can get a species trophy in one of the more popular species without even advertising.
