UC Stalking?

So I've been wondering, how do people actually find UC's that they stalk O_o

I'm been sitting here just thinking of a few methods that come to mind, but everything is active, or something of the sort.


So, I ask, do you stalk UC's?

Got any weird stories, or a crazy obsession?

No I do not stalk UCs, I actually have a life LOL Besides I have my own

The most common reason I see is that the pet was once UFA a long, long, long time ago, and the owner disappeared before picking an owner ( or whatever ), and some people are just obsessive enough to keep checking on them after all these years.

I have nooo idea otherwise besides people just having known the pet while it was active, though. Because I assume if the pet is inactive enough to not have a cache, they shouldn't show up when you try to search for pets stuck in the pound? (Not 100% on this)

Even when I look for untaken names, the pets I find are always basic/converted.

I was thinking most stalkers knew of the uc when it was active too.

Those old pet directories may play a part?

I used JN's pet directory to stalk pets I wanted. Now with that gone I stopped caring as much, because I'll never get the UC I want.

I sometimes look up RWs or RNs that I'm interested in. A lot of users that have desirably-named pets often also have UCs, so I find it easy to "account-hop" like that based on a simple name search.

Thanks to everyone who listed their pets over the years. Unfortunately, the directory has become too much of a strain on our server, and it's not a highly used JN feature. So, we've decided to close it down and instead use our server resources to power other popular parts of JN.
