since the first one (as i said at the time howl's moving castle). i've also watched spirited away (loved it) and castle in the sky (it was OK but i didn't like it as much as the other two.
planning on watching my neighbour totoro next week.
It was a super long time ago but I think it was Spirited Away. I'm not all that fond of Ghibli movies though and I've only watched a few since.

Nausicaa. My dad had an old bootleg VHS copy of the original "Warriors of the Wind" dubbing he labeled simply as "Bug Movie." My brother and I went through a phase as kids where we watched it literally daily. It's still my favorite movie, I never get sick of it.
I think it was Spirited Away!!!
Howl's Moving Castle was my first Ghibli movie! I had read the book and was so excited for the story, not knowing that it was very much it's own thing, and ended up being so charmed by the movie and Ghibli's animation that watched Spirited Away and Ponyo immediately afterwards.
Spirited away was my first. I was really amazed. The story. The details on the animation. It is a wonderful movie even though it has been so many years!
I watched Grave of the Fireflies ONE time and I will N E V E R watch it again. I've never cried so hard or generally felt that much pain from media before and even thinking about it is making me tear up and n o.
That said, it is magnificent in the level of quality and care that it was imbued with and how beautiful the animation in it is. It's a little bit... grittier??? in style, which was so amazing. I know that Miyazaki is like The Ghibli God but I think Takahata is underrated AF when it comes to creative storytelling.

common answer but spirited away
it came on cartoon network at some point during the 2000s and i loved it sooo much but had no idea what the name was until i started using tumblr as an angsty teen
it makes me so emotional and nostalgic ;o;
Howl's Moving Castle, we watched in Japanese class in high school for the end of the term but we ran out of time to finish it, the next end of term we watched Spirited Away and that was the first one I saw the whole way through (albeit in like 2 parts).
Either Howl's Moving Castle or Totoro was my first S.G movie! Lovvvve Totoro still, but Ponyo for some reason is my current fave just so darn cute.
