k what does 3rd gen mean.. like what is excluded...

Not 3rd Gen. It means Pokemon with 3 evolution stages already can't be done. So, for example, you couldn't do Venusaur, as Bulbasaur->Ivysaur->Venusaur is 3. You could, however, do Ninetails, as Vulpix->Ninetails is only 2.
