    Umm okay

    reverse foil the top two lines
    x^2+3x-4 become (x+4)(x-1)
    x^2-7x+12 becomes (x-3)(x-4)

    (x+4)(x-1)
    ----------
    (x-3)(x-4)
    -------------
    x+4
    --------------
    x-3

    now cross out the x-3 and x+4
    and you are left with
    (x-1)
    ----- <division sign
    (x-4
