In the early days of biology, all organisms were classified as either plants or animals. Single-celled eukaryotic organisms such as algae and Paramecium were assigned to one of the kingdoms according to whether they are photosynthetic or not. Fungi and prokaryotes were grouped with plants, because fungi are sedentary and prokaryotes have cell walls.
xD Easy enough right??
Except I was up to chem is HS and didn't learn any of this stuff!!!
Now I'm in Biology in college and it's super stupid..
HS teachers do not prepare you for anything.. Waste of time!
That stuff is taught in probably elementary school now. I am only 23 and I remember having to know the basics of cell biology and early classification in grade 10. First year college "intro biology" is dumb but it is still very basic, though you will need to know more genetics than the high school years.
We learned that stuff in year 12, year 13 got much harder though, learning about respiration and photosynthesis.
