I don't like it; the last couple forums I was on where they had one suffered in forum activity because there was a chat.

I like that idea! That way you can get quick responses to questions without clogging up the forums, as well as getting to know people much better, faster!

And I can see mikes point that it would take away from activity if it was a really active chat box

I know a forum where theres about 700k members and the shoutbox is extremely loved and theres usually not many people in the shoutbox compared to active members
