View Full Version : Which anime do you wish for or not want a new season?
Reading the what mangas you want adapted to anime board and the waifu husbandos thread made me remember how many old animes that I wished for a continuation and some I hope never continue because it wasn't adapted well.
The one I hope they have a new season would be XXXHOLiC and Saiunkoku Monogatari.
I love XXXHOLiC and the "values" they have in the story. But I really wish CLAMP will just finish the story already and stop going into hiatuses :(
Saiunkoku is another anime I really hope they continue, it's a really underrated anime. I'm trying my best to find the full light novel set so I can finish the story.
And no thank you for a new season would be Kaichou wa Maid-sama.
I love the manga but the anime just was not good imho, there were so many things lacking in terms of animation and the way the characters acted. It was a huge disappointment...
I wanna see what other animes out there that you think is worth a new season so I can add onto my never ending watch list of animes!

First of all Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn). It is such a CRIME it only has one season. I'm glad that one season finished on such an open note, because that made me go right to the manga and I read it ever since. And it only gets better and better with time, it's unbelievable. I don't understand how no one thought about cashing on this more. It needs another season and FAST.
The other one, is Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland). Sure it had 2 seasons, but both of them SUCKED so bad. Especially when comparing to the manga which is so smart and compelling, the anime were just a spit in the face of the fans. The first season I can somehow let slide, and evidently a lot of non-manga-readers enjoyed it a lot. But season 2 was so insulting... Really, I can't even start to describe it. They butchered the source material and gave us a lame, badly constructed recap of the main end-game plot points. Oh, and they ended it on a powerpoint slider show that had details that anime-only fans would NEVER get. I seriously never seen any serious being done so dirty. So a big no to another half-ass job like that, but a remake? YES PLEASE.
These are the ones that comes to my mind immediately, if I'll remember more I'd add them (but I'm not much of a manga person tbh so there might not be more lol).

I'm not sure if Digimon is considered Anime or not.
But I loved watching that show as a kid. It never reached the same popularity as Pokemon. But the monsters were cooler.
I always wished the show continued.
Now that I've remembered about this I'll probably go back through and re watch Digimon. I think it only has 3 seasons :/.

Yes! Digimon is considered an anime! but it never stopped ^^ it has loads of seasons and different characters/cast/stories and very odd ways of how the digimon worked.
It's just the original stories of Taichi and Argumon ended. They recently made a movie to finish up the whole thing 1st/2nd seasons and I'm never going to watch it because I swear I will bawl my eyes out.
there's a new season currently ongoing called Digimon Ghost Game and there's also a game coming out!

Idk what was the last season you watched, but in recent years we had the 7(!) movies for Digimon Adventure (and another one for 02 got announced), Digimon Univers: Appli Monsters and Digimon Ghost Game which is currently airing!
I opened up a thread for it when it stared, hoping we can discuss it each week but no one ever replied lol. I still watch if ofc

I even fansubbed most of it to Hebrew (almost all seasons, pretty much all movies etc). And yeah the movies are... sad for sure lol. I was crying so much when watching them, and even when I worked on the subs etc, couldn't stop crying :sorrow:
And yes Digimon Tamers is so good! It's my favorite season along with Savers (which most people don't like, but it'll always have a warm place in my heart as the first anime I watched in Japanese with subs)

I can't remember if I finished reading the manga but I do have the anime kept in my hard disk.
A memorable scene which I'll always remember was Reborn using the first aid electric shock on Tsuna! Made me laughed like mad.

Aw Lambo T_T i love his baby form. I felt so bad he had to participate in the fights every single time, but he tried his very best.
I no longer have rebon on my hard disk I think but I do have a lot of doujins from it :P

Yup Savers is season 5. For me it was like, I loved Digimon so much as a child and I couldn't accept it ends after 4 seasons (I watched the first 4 dubbed on TV). Then I looked up, and luckily it was right around when Savers just started airing in Japan! So that's how I started watching anime in Japanese basically lmao.

I'm not a fan of the SXF anime :( I felt the manga did so much better in terms of the characters interactions and emotions. But tbf, it's definitely very difficult to animate a psychic's reaction compared to reading it in a manga.

I'm biased towards the original characters because that's what got me hooked up to the series.
Guess I'm a sentimental person HAHAHA. I'll go watch Digimon Adventure (2020)!

Was there a continuation showing the married life of Kyo and Tohru? I know the new manga was more about their children and their parents weren't ever mentioned or shown :blue:

Have not tried to search for the new manga yet, but wow would be nice to see their kids!
Nope, sadly there wasn't anywhere that shows the married life of Kyo and Tohru.

The mangaka did kinda do a continuation called Fruits Basket Another which featured most of their kids in high school but the story is a little slow and it's kinda confusing whose kid is whose.
I also wished they showed the future of all the characters instead of jumping right into a time where all their kids are grown :P It would have been nice to see how Kyo handled his kids.

I'm starting to get doubtful that it will ever happen (especially as it was funded? by Netflix), but I'd reeeeally love another season of Brand New Animal! Even if its just set in the same world with a new storyline, I really dug it :P Highly recommend if anyone hasn't watched it yet!
I'd also love another Avatar series but with LoK's reception I don't know if or when that'll happen. I personally didn't mind LoK but I also understand the dislike.

One of my favorite anime and manga of all times is Bamboo Blade. It's a fun comedy about a kendo club! It has one anime season with 26 episodes, and it's great! And it closes up the story pretty tightly. But......... the manga continued quite a bit after the anime, even though the story made a pretty big shift. Another detail I want to note is that in one of the volumes the mangaka says they actually worked on a screenplay for another anime season (unrelated to the manga story I guess)! But yeah it never came to be.
I'd be happy to see another season - either original story with the anime characters or even just an adaptation of the rest of the manga.

Ikr :( It's really one of the better slice of life/mystery anime, I'm pretty sure I rewatched it like 3 times. But I guess it's just not what a mainstream anime is so...

I watched all first 5 seasons (Savers is 5th right?) and then stopped, I think I missed last or the 2 last ones? Only read some reviews about it, I guess wasn't excited about many digimons merging together tho didn't give them the chance too.
I know I said it before but I do wish for Claymore anime to continue T_T I know how ends but still would like to see it on screen.
Also waiting on Netflix for next season of Sailor Moon Crystal, Sailor Stars Arc :o_o:

I kind of wish someone would pull a Fruits Basket and completely redo Deadman Wonderland.
I think it really deserves a better adaptation/to be finished because the story was so interesting. I just googled it and I guess it was canceled for straying so far from the manga /eyeing Promised Neverland,/ but maybe someday it’ll get picked back up 😭

The things I would do for Yona of the Dawn to get a second season ;-; or for Saiyuki to get a new adaptation that starts from the beginning. The last Saiyuki adaptation I saw came out a handful of years ago and it pained me how the opening credits and especially the closing credits had images from the very first arc, what a tease xD the anime that covers the OG material is very old and low budget.
Speaking of low budget, Panorama Hearts also deserves a redux and for the whole story to be told start to finish. It's so good and some of the later material would be gorgeous animated. Though the story is so emotionally brutal that I'd have to brace myself to watch it.

I really, really enjoyed SK8 the Infinity last year. It had a good, very tight story that I don't think NEEDS expansion. They've confirmed we're getting "another animation project," but nobody knows if it's a new season, or a movie, or even an OVA.
I kind of hope it's just an OVA! I was so satisfied with how the original story ended that I think any more meaningful expansion would just cheapen it.

Blue Exorcist and Noragami! Gosh I've been waiting ages for a season 3 for Blue Exorcist. The manga is still going and the plot is thickening, at this point i'd love to see this animated, I thoroughly enjoyed both seasons, even if season 1 diverted from the original source material.

It's brilliant, I don't feel like it gets enough attention ;O; I really recommend reading the manga because there's a massive plot twist with one of the characters! It's just a shame they won't renew it for another season, I always thought the characters were pretty unique.

I know it's old, but I really wish Cardcaptor Sakura had more content. I really enjoyed it, never really got into it when I was younger. I watched it a couple months ago and thought the concepts were great. They ended it well, but the anime is so good I think it could have had a lot more great content!

There's a continuation for cardcaptor sakura called cardcaptor sakura clear card ^^
CLAMP actually continued the manga in 2016 and the anime came out 2 years later! though I don't think the anime completed everything because the manga is still ongoing!
Hopefully they do intend to animate it to the end.

Right?! It's such a shame that both are sort of in limbo. The plot has taken a very interesting turn for Blue Exorcist, and I think it would be amazing in an anime format. I suppose it's just not as popular as other shounens though!

I know!!! It's good enough it made the cut on netflix tho, they should consider it.
Also, I want more Kill la Kill content, I know it had a good ending but I WANT MORE!

I'd like to see the Gantz anime finished one day. I started checking that because of my husband and really liked the fights. I guess I'll have to read the manga for the ending.

I definitely want a third season of Noragami too! But the truth is that the manga progresses quite slowly. I don't know how much you've read, so I'm not going to spoil you, but I'm looking forward to finishing this battle once and for all. Let's move on to something else, please. Please.

Yes, It's been suuuper slow! I'm on volume 20 of Noragami, but it makes sense if the plot itself is too slow for another season of the anime.

I just want a new Noragami season :( it's been 87 years.
And then, a new One Punch Man season that doesn't suck. Season 2 hurt my soul in so many ways. S3 is finally confirmed but I am cautiously optimistic at best.*No idea which studio but I'm so baffled by every single decision made in S2 when JC Staff is perfectly capable of making shows that don't blow. If the new one is anything like that I don't want it. I'll just stick to rewatching S1 every other year or so.
I'd also love to see a Soul Eater reboot. Wonder if it'll be on the table after Fire Force ends? I don't even particularly like the SE manga ending, but the pacing and character development are generally better and I just want to see the series get some love and recognition again.
No show in existence has fvcked me up as bad as Re:Zero. Like to the point that I do not recommend that anime to anyone. But even still, I will always watch Re:Zero because it's too late for my soul to be saved. That show is incredibly stressful and is way too deep and dark for anyone to love and enjoy yet I do. So yeah I always want another season of it even though it's just gonna tear me more apart...
