There are some distinct anime art styles, and you can sometimes notice the same details/similarities between different shows and movies...

Which is your favorite?

Oh wow there are so many I love!

First example will be Made in Abyss ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). The characters look chibi and childish which gives a really wrong impression about what this show is really about. But aside from that, the background illustrations are freaking amazing.

Second example is Tsuritama ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). The show is super colorful and fun, and it adds a lot to its kinda-bizarre nature. The colors lighting/shadowing isn't detailed, but it's still really fun to look at!

One last example for now will be Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). As expected from a shaft series, the art style is pretty crazy with the colors and still shots, and also the very cool patterns on the cloths etc!

I love the original art style for Soul Eater. :) Although, the appeal really seems to have fallen out with Soul Eater Not's anime art. :S

I also liked Seven Deadly Sins as well in earlier seasons, but I heard that the art really fell short as it was ending.

I know Attack on Titan has fallen out of vogue a bit lately, but I really loved the old Wit Studio style of the chunky lineart! It always felt like they were about to leap off the screen.

(And Levi never looked better lbr)

I'm not much of an anime connoisseur, but I've watched a lot of Ghibli though and everything about them is so gorgeous. The backgrounds are fantastical and have so many details.

Also, I used to follow a blog that was just Ghibli food.

I don't know if this counts because I'm so unfamiliar with other ones, but I really do love it so much.

KyoAni is definitely one of my favorite (if not, fav) animation studios and their clean and extremely aesthetically pleasing style for shows like Free! and Violet Evergarden is just gorgeous. Not just how they draw and animate people but animate nature (ESPECIALLY WATER) or environmental scenes (like in VE) just makes me cry... I could literally look at it all day!!

Ahhhh Ghibli is *so* dreamy, I really love it. Just pure aesthetic porn imho.

I love how Ni No Kuni used Ghibli art, it just made the game all the more beautiful. :peaceful:

I think Studio Ghibli takes the cake for me. I mean, I love Sailor Moon, and it really is a beautiful style, especially in the manga. There's something though about Ghibli where you [I] don't want to take your [my] eyes off the screen. You don't want to miss a single second. Sometimes I rewind just to take it all in.
Just look at how soft.

My favourite will always be the Bleach art style. I'm a massive fan of Kuo Tite's style, his art has influenced me to become a better artist. His sense of style in his characters are pretty unique too, since Kubo originally wanted to be a fashion designer, you can definitely see that in his art and clothing he gives to the characters :)

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

The most impressive thing about the Bleach art style is how it's evolved and grown through out the years, Kubo really refined his art from the blocky/pointy style to the more rounded off look. I really admire how his art looked, espesially in the Soul Society arc!

The transition of his art from the manga to the anime worked really well, especially in the Soul Society arc, Fake Karakura Town arc Fullbring arc. They were animated to beautifully!

Ao Haru Ride... so beautiful. Loved the manga and I was so happy to see an anime

I really love Ai Yazawa's art style. Paradise Kiss and NANA are two of my all time favourites.

I also like colorful chibi style as well. But yeah, anything soft and feminine is up my alley :')

Another favourite, and how I wish it was an anime, is Sand Chronicles. Someone wrote a blog post ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) about it and why I love it so much. I Cry every time I read it.

OH YEAH KYOANI

Personally I'm in love with their animation in Hibike! Euphonium and Hyouka. Also the style they chose for the movie "Liz and the Blue Bird" is also special and complements the movie very well!

3gatsu no lion has one of my favorite arts ever. Artists surely knew how express emotions in the show.

I think the way they used the art to portray character's feelings are truly poetic, this is one of the reasons the anime is in my Top 5 fav animes.

I really like the depression/anxiety examples you shared! The style is great and I'm a slut for black/white/grey art.

I second this, Blue Exorcist was one of my favourites after Bleach xD

Noragami had some really cool animated openings too!

And of course JoJo's. I loved part 4 and 5's art style a lot! Super bright and colourful!

Yessssss!!! Love this one. Similarly, Orange is beautiful as well!

Might be my nostalgia talking, but I’ll forever love the old style of Inuyasha.

I also wanted to add Your Name. The animation is so beautiful, very much gave me Ghibli feels. Very smooth and fluid, and the art style seems so soft! I highly recommend giving this a watch if anyone loves the Studio Ghibli art style and animation.

I’ll probably update this when I’m not mobile

I love art, and anime as a whole, Ghibli was by far one of my favorites
Followed by Ranma, Sailor Moon, Cowboy Bebop

Older anime like Rose of Versailles, and Utena also had a lovely feel to me.

Things I’ve watched recently that I’ve fallen in love with are
Death Parade and Violet Evergarden.

Violet made me cry coupled with beautiful animation and just an overall amazing aesthetic.

I’ll definitely upload some of my favorite scenes ASAP!

It has that amazing 80s gritty and neon-y aesthetic I really dig. There are no temporary anime like it, at least that I recall. Paprika reminds me a bit of it, but without the grittiness and cleaner.

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun! Its incredibly well done and fluid while having this grittiness to it that just *chefs kiss*
Aesthetically its just something I enjoy immensely. There's also a good nostalgia factor with the style as well for me. Reminds me of being really little and sneaking out at night to turn on Toonami :P

Aaaah how could I forget Trigun! I still have the old VHS back from when I was a kid. Me and my friends used to play scenes from it B) and I wanted to have a coat similar to Vash's but my mom wouldn't let me (luckily, adult me would say lol)

I love ~artsy~ anime so naturally Maasaki Yuasa is a fave! :D

The Night is Short, Walk On Girl - the gif does not do this scene justice

44679
Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! so good, please watch it if you haven't already

44680
Devilman Crybaby - you may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like

I also LOVE the witches in Madoka Magica, I just really like the contrast between the generic anime style anime girls and wild collages/watercolors etc.

I also wanted to add that Devilman Crybaby had a really unique opening with so much foreshadowing. Animation was amazing. Ending was super sad and had me upset for a good week lmao

Also had anyone seen Tekkonkinkrit? Stunning art! Not your typical anime but definitely something I appreciated when I was into animation as a teen.
