Hello folks!

The much awaited 2.0 update for Animal Crossing is available now! Update your software and let’s go! *waves goodbye to social life*

My Switch did not auto prompt to update the game when booted up. To update: press the “+” button when you have the game selected on the home menu, and choose “Software Update”. Let the update download and install, and voila! Hopefully this will change by the 5th to prompt you to update when you go to start the game.

Summary of updates from Nintendo:

Brewster will open a café: Something new is coming to a corner of the museum. The quiet proprietor Brewster will open the Roost after you fulfil a certain favor for museum director Blathers. The Roost is a new location to take a relaxing break in and enjoy some hand-selected coffee. You may run into some island residents here, too. If you use the amiibo phone inside the café, you can invite other characters to join you by using compatible amiibo cards. If you’d like, you can even invite friends*** to your island and bring them to the Roost to enjoy relaxing cups of joe together.

Take a boat tour with Kapp’n: Kapp’n hangs out at the pier and will take you to one of the remote islands on his boat. The sea shanty he serenades you with along the way is also part of the fun! You may arrive at islands with mysterious flora that’s never been seen before, or islands with different seasons and times of day. What kind of mysteries await?

Unearth gyroids: So far, fossils could be dug up from the ground, and now you can also find gyroids. Each gyroid plays unique sounds. You can also customize them to match their surroundings when you place them!

Shop at the open market on Harv’s Island: Harv’s Island is undergoing a renewal. With a little help from his friend Harriet, Harvey is inviting some shops to the island for an open market. Contribute Bells to the cause to help make it happen! Familiar visitors on your island like Redd, Saharah and Kicks will have shops here now, and Reese & Cyrus’s shop will offer furniture customization that can’t be done through DIY workbenches. At Katrina’s shop, she’ll look at your fortune of the day. Harriet can even teach you some different hair styles!

Get cooking: Cooking will be added to DIY recipes. After growing vegetables in your garden like tomatoes, wheat, sugarcane, potatoes and carrots, you can combine your harvest or other ingredients and fill up your dining table with delicious looking dishes. Enjoy while it’s hot!

Further support for your island life: Nook, Inc. will offer further support for your island life. From group stretching at the plaza and bigger home storage, to the Resident Representative being able to establish ordinances like reducing the rate at which weeds grow or making all the residents get up early in the morning, there are more options to help you enjoy and adjust the island to fit your lifestyle.

Some other notable updates:

-a bunch of returning characters, including Tortimer, Katrina and Harriet are back.
-The ability to place permanent ladders is now possible.
-Users can now place storage and ATMs outside - no more wasting time going in and out of buildings.
-The amount of bridges and inclines you can have has increased from eight to 10.
-Apparently we can put DIYs in storage now! Thank god

There’s also the Happy Home Paradise DLC, which I can’t wait for because I LOVED Home Designer! **This has not been released yet, but it is coming!!**

Where’s Brewster?

It also seems that we are tasked with finding Brewster ourselves. Speak to Blathers at the museum and he will task you with unearthing gyroids on Kapp’n islands to help find Brewster! A trip with Kapp’n is 1000 Nook Miles, and he can be found on your island’s pier.

Once on the island: Find those gyroids fragments, talk to Brewster, and then head back to your island. Plant the fragments, water them. Go talk to Blathers at the museum, and he will say that the museum will be closed the next day for renovations. The cafe will open on the day after renovations!

The cafe has been something I’ve long awaited!!

Harv’s Island!

This is where the shops come into place! We will get to see a lot of old favourites from past games. Harriet will be by the fire with Harv. Talk to them, and they’ll explain that to set up shops in the new co-op space, donations are required. Yep, you’ll have to fund it yourself! Each shop is 100,000 bells, and you can only fully donate to one shop per day. Once a donation goal is reached, the shop it was for will open the following day! I have heard that you will be able to customise plaza furniture/decorations once you get Reece/Cyrus, which would be nice! I got colours I’m not a fan of personally for those items.

To get new seeds/vegetables: you will need to buy these from Leif!
