your favourite Anime and Anime Character of all time?

I would like to know your favourite anime and anime character of all time.
I know that there are so many great ones but if you had to choose only ONE? who would you pick? :)

I'll start!

My favourite Anime: Haibane Renmei


It's an anime about angel resembling humans who fell from the sky, living in a town and trying to live their lives with no memories of the past while trying to break free from their former pain and ultimately find salvation. I really recommend this one. 13/13 Episodes!

My favorite anime since I was a kid is HunterxHunter. :) The characters, world building, and plot are just incredible even if Togashi sensei will never finish and is just jerking us around now but he also gets points for being married to naoko fucking takeuchi oops I digress

I don't watch anime much anymore but I just have incredibly fond memories of burning the different arcs onto CDs (HA) back in the day and watching them over and over again :D I couldn't bring myself to watch the 2011 version when it was released just cos the original has such a big place in my heart but I WILL watch it one day and probably go through a whole new emotional trip lol. If you like shounen action/adventure mixed with the hard hitting serious moments and the silly comedic ones I really do recommend it!

I probably don't have anything akin to a REALLY "favorite" anime character but middle school me was absolutely obsessed with Killua :rolleyes:

My favorite anime for the last few years is Haikyuu! Didn't think I'd fall in love with a sports anime so hard, but it's so nostalgic and the characters and their arcs are all so good. I do also play volleyball so sometimes when I'm feeling down on myself I just watch it for a pick me up haha. It just make me want to try really hard at being a better person c:

I guess my fave character would be Kuroo/Tsukki from the series, but I love them all! Tsukki's arc is my favorite :heart:

I'm a sports anime person! I like Haikyuu!! (wow of course), but also Daiya no Ace and SK8 the Infinity (which I would classify as sportsani purely based on like, the common trope of "Character B, a newbie to [sport], is way better than Character A, who has been doing [sport] their whole life."

My favorite character EVER is probably Lorenz from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but that's a video game and not an anime.

So can I cheat and say... the entirety of the Nekoma team from Haikyuu!!? I also like Oikawa - I like Oikawa a LOT, cry with me "Talent is something you make bloom" stans - but I like way more of the characters on Nekoma. Oh, and I like Shirabu and Tendou. And Ushijima. THERE'S LIKE NO EASY WAY TO PICK, so Nekoma.

From Daiya, I always go between Eijun (the protagonist, pitcher) and Haruichi / Ryousuke (brothers, batter and fielder respectively, also they're PINK) or Miyuki (catcher, somehow both megane and kakkoi, incredible) as my favorite. It just depends on how I'm feeling that day.

I also really enjoy HxH as well! That's the show I let play whenever I'm having a sick day or just want to watch something I know is like. Well-written, lol. Great narrative and characters across the plate.

Favorite anime hands down is One Piece. I'm up to date with manga and anime and yes I have seen the light of day and not living underground.
Story is just really awesome, hilarious, badass characters and a weekly drug for me.
Under O.P, are Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, Bleach and Samurai Champloo,

Favorite character in general... that's a tough one. Has to be a mix between Alucard from Hellsing, Ichigo from Bleach, Gol D. Roger, White Beard from One Piece, Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
BUTT, if anyone deserve the top spot. One that never lets me down and makes me laugh in such level that makes my insides hurt...it has to be my lord and savior Captain God Ussop from one One Piece.

This guy is just comedy gold and never lets down. No spoilers, but if you haven't watched the G8-Arc, you are missing on some of his funniest stuff. I legit cried of laughter.

God, I love Samurai Champloo! And CB is of course a classic! My doormat is Cowboy Bebop-themed! ;)

Haikyuu!! ranks very high on my list of anime loves, despite not loving sports anime that much as a rule! It's secretly an incredible study on character development and personal growth wrapped up in a sports anime wrapper, so there is great butt shots and character development 12/10 would recommend to anyone.

That said, I think one of my favourite anime is a short 12-episode anime called Tsuritama. The style is unique and it's just so incredibly charming. I don't think a lot of people watched it when it came out or even know about it, but if you enjoy charming, silly vibes while dealing with very serious personal things, do give it a watch!

I can't choose a single favourite character! Haikyuu!! alone has so many incredible ones, and then with things like Cowboy Beebop and FMA: Brotherhood out there? OOF.

I might have talked about Monster on here before but the psychology and complexity of it all still baffles me after having watched the whole series.... 10 times now probably. I think I watch AND read it every year since I discovered the manga/anime. Urasawa is amazing, and Johann is beyond a villain: he is depression, nihilism, fear, existential crisis, burden of the past, revenge and sorrow personified. He is forced in a mold by extremists who view him as the Übermensch, and use him to regain control of Germany while deep inside he is still this frightened, traumatized child that wants to take revenge but cannot distinguish between good and evil anymore because the same agency brainwashed him. His actions are clearly evil, but you have to wonder if he really is. It's an amazing anime and I can't wait to watch it again. Not in the least because it's situated in Germany and Prague/Czech Republic, two countries and places I've often been too and love. The soundtrack is magnificent too.
