Wireless works but with Wire Does not ... HELP!

Hey guys!

So when my computer is on wireless it works, although the wifi is a little slower. However, when I plug the Ethernet wire in the internet stops working!

Does anybody know what the problem is / more importantly how to fix it?

I am also in a college dorm, so I do not have access to like the router or what not

I think you'd be better off asking somebody that does have access to the router. And are you supposed to be able to use it? Maybe they put a lock on it or something.

Ya it was working fine a couple days ago and its the dorm's internet which I have access too

Sure it's not a fault with the wire? Try borrowing someone else's cable and see if that helps.

Tried another wire, one that works on my friends computer, and still does not work

I don't have too many knowledge about these things, but is it possible you need a certain program installed for it?
