That moment's pretty obvious. :P
Ten years ago, my mother would ask me a question that goes like, "Look, if you don't wanna go to school that badly, then don't go. Do you want to go or not?"
But you know pretty well that the only answer is "U. GO NAO. OR I KILL U."

Yes I have :P

Sorry for being a pedant but I suppose technically speaking there wasn't a rhetorical question anywhere in that post. Can you imagine?

But that wasn't a rhetorical question, since there was an answer to it.
.. right.

It technically was because her mother knew the answer already

"A form of rhetoric, Rhetorical ' describes a statement or word asked merely for effect with no answer expected "

I missed the word of "expected" :p

I have been asked rhetorical questions several times, especially at school but the teacher usually asks everyone the question out loud. Most of the time when my teacher does this is when shes upset with the class, she would like yell at us for the rest of the period.

Lol yes, something like, "Let's take STUDENTNAMEHERE's money."
"No way, dude. Are you an idiot?"
Then you go like, "I must be."

Oh my gosh totally! That's happened to me plenty.

it's funny when the person whom the rhetorical question is directed at doesnt get that its a rhetorical question, and proceeds to answer the question anyway.
