View Full Version : Chrome keeps crashing?

I have tried searching for answers online but haven't found anything helpful yet.

Basically Chrome is giving me an error anytime I try to do anything - open a webpage, go to the settings, extensions, crash reports, etc. Every page crashes.

It was working fine, then my laptop froze. I had to reset it. When it came back up, it had some updates to install which ran for about an hour or two. After everything came back up, Chrome was giving me shit. Firefox works fine, IE works fine. The troubleshooter won't work for some reason. I'm not sure what kind of update was pushed out but it screwed up my system for sure.

Yeha I agree, reinstall Chrome see if that fixes the problem, could be the version you have is no longer fully compatible with the windows update; Otherwise shut down all of your extensions and slowly turn each one back on, to see if it is an issue with them.

I did try to reinstall and got the same issue. I could try getting rid of chrome completely and installing again but I'd lose all my saved browsing data. Apparently it's an issue other people have had but I can't find any solution. Windows 10 screwing things up again, pft

I had this happen to me on my windows 7. Surprisingly hasn't happened to me on my 10 yet.

I don't know what went wrong but I had to wipe everything about chrome and reinstall it.

On the bright side, if you linked your browsing history and bookmarks to your email, you can log back in and get everything back. I've switched computers several times and I still have all my saved passes and whatnot.

I didn't create a profile though, so I can't do that :(
I probably should have but I didn't wanna or have any need to before. It works sometimes now. Like I'll open it and open a few tabs real quick.... but then when I try to go to settings, it dies.

I guess I'll keep trying to use FF and hope microsoft/google fixes their shiiiiit

get it open long enough to link it. You can use current information still there and it'll stay.

I have to link it under the settings page though, right?
If so, that definitely won't work because that crashes the instant I try to navigate to it. It's really weird. I've never had this issue before. Most things I use daily I know the logins and such by memory.. it's just the obscure stuff I rarely use.

I would hold back on deleting everything until there's another update. If it doesn't fix by then, you may not have a choice :/

Unless someone posts a better solution, which I hope they do.

I'm definitely not going to delete and reinstall it yet. Not THAT desperate yet. I'm hoping they fix it. It's better than it was. Before I couldn't open ANY tabs. At least now I can sometimes browse a bit.

I saw other possible solutions online but none of them applied so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
