Do you believe in 2012?

I've read about the geomagnetic reversal theory.

Nothing much, the only thing that really happens is the polarity alignment of magnetic minerals in rocks changes towards the wandering pole. The poles reverse a lot though, hundreds of times in the past 200 million years.

I'm actually not sure if I believe this or not. I think it was in October that someone thought the world was going to end and nothing happened. I mean yes, i think a catastrophic event will happen eventually, but not next year. I think global warming will have a big part to do with it.

It will have implications in later years, maybe when your kids have kids...around that time we could be having some more serious issues with global warming. That amount of time really is not long either. Global warming occurs throughout history and there have been times in geological past when atmospheric CO2 levels were higher and as a result average ambient temperatures were also much higher than it is now without any sort of industrial participation. The problem to watch for is an ice age but another one is not due for another rough 10,000 years so we are okay for now.

The bigger problem the world has is the much greater chance of a viral pandemic. If a mass amount people are going to die it is going to be something very fast and hard to stop such as a viral infection. All it takes is mutations (which already occur at an alarming rate) to already resistant and hard to kill viruses and we would have a serious problem.
