Trix's Guide to the Neopian Wishing Well
Do you really want that new wearable/stamp/plushie that came out but can't be bothered to shell out the NPs for it/wait for it to deflate? Here's a way to nab it at a fraction of the TP price:
Go to the Wishing Well ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Decide which item to wish for! NB: The item must be rarity 89 or below. Here ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) is a great list from jellyneo of stuff you might want.
Make a donation of at least 21 NPs. It's not confirmed but it's been hypothesised that donations below this amount have no effect.
Wish seven times.
Cross your fingers and pray!
I do this a couple of times a week from most of my accounts and have my wish granted at least once a month. Good luck and I hope to see your names up there on the granted wishes.
How many wishes does the well grant per day?
Neopets says the well grants wishes four times daily and each time it does this it chooses 10 wishes to grant.
Why 21 neopoints?
This is unconfirmed but when an amount less than that is donated the url is like so:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
However when you donate 21 or above the url changes to this:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
I am not a programmer and so have no idea if this has any bearing on whether your wish is granted but I've experimented and never had my wish granted when I donated less than 21 neopoints.
Why only seven times?
For the same reason as above really. On the eighth wish the &xt= part of the url disappears.

Sorry! Keep trying. You will eventually have your wish granted and, if you're doing it to make quick NPs it will more than have paid for itself if you donate the min amount * 7 every time you wish :D
When does the well grant wishes?
Supposedly at 6am/pm NST but I personally have not seen a connection between time when the wish was placed and probability of it being granted. Tell me if you have though!
What else does the wishing well do?
Well if you donate 48,673 NPs you get this spiffy avatar:
